Now Sapphire Weddings Formerly Paradisus Riviera

Recommended Posts

We're flying (from Canada) with Air Transat and transportation to and from the resort is included with our package.  I have heard of couples getting free private shuttles from the airport, but I think that's just for the bride and groom.  There are shuttle companies you can hire for a pretty decent rate if you're trying to transport all of your guests.  Last year I went to Tulum for a friend's wedding, and she hired a private shuttle for the group because the transfer would have taken far too long if we went on the shuttle that was included with our trip (from Sunwing - another Canadian vacation company).  I think we paid about $20 each for the private shuttle to Tulum, and that included beer and water for around 20 people.

A question for everyone:  What kind of transportation service are you using from the airport to Sapphire?  My TA said he could arrange a service to pick us up, but I've had several guests ask me to check with the hotel.  Does anyone know if the resort offers a shuttle of some sort??  Some of my guests seem to think it should be part of the package, but I would imagine it's an additional fee.

With our TA our prices did include transfers to and from the airport. With the wedding package we bought we will receive private transportation. I wonder if other resorts have so much turn over as it seems like this one always has a new wedding planner.

Thanks for the info about Anel!

I am planning on a welcome reception, but to keep it free we were just thinking of doing a dinner in the Market Cafe (buffet). I believe they will more or less block off an area for the group so it's semi-private. I just can't justify paying $22 per person plus tax & service to have it in one of the restaurants with a set menu, on top of all the other add-ons at this point!

Another idea I had thought about was a meet-and-greet at one of the bars. More casual that way and people would be free to go wherever they liked for dinner still. We'll see..

thats a really great idea, we have a large group and i read that capacity in the restaurants is only 35 people.  We are looking at having over 75, so I may have to do a private event.  I reached out to Anel to find out our options and am awaiting her response.

Thanks for the info on the transportation question, my TA said he could arrange that for each guest.

On a another note...I recently contacted the new coordinator, Anel, and she responded in less than a day!  I was pleasantly surprised with her timely response.  I'm hoping that's a good sign:)

ps31,

My guests roundtrip transportation from the airport to the resort is included in their travel package from my travel agent.  They will be using the shuttles from the resort but at no additional cost.  This was definitely a perk since it can get very confusing when traveling to an international country.

I just submitted the ppwk and deposit for a wedding date of 10/12/12. My fiance and I have actually booked a trip to see it 10/21/11 - 10/26/11. I am very much a planner and very detail oriented. Once we get back from our trip, I will definitely post everything I find out and whatever I can negotiate.

Can't wait to hear how your trip went. I'm getting married 10/13/12 :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
