Garden Wedding in PV / NV??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!! I'm a brandie-newbie to this site and LOVE it so far, but I'm trying to find locations for a garden wedding and simply haven't narrowed it down to "the one" yet. Would really appreciate any advice I can get!!!

So the wedding is slated for the first weekend of June 2012, and I have a couple of concerns:

1.) I don't really want to do this thing on the sand. (I know, I know....I'm nuts) If we do it on the beach, we definitely want to rent a tent, which I assume will be expensive. But this still just isn't the way that we really want to go.

2.) I really, really want the actual ceremony to have a garden-esque feeling, feet on the grass, hopefully some shade for the bridal party and guests. It's just going to be so hot in June, and I'm from Texas so I totally get the heat and humidity. Not a fan.

Since FI can't get off work anytime soon, my mom and I are heading down to good ol' PV/NV for a few days at the end of July to scout out some places. So far, at the top of my list are: Dreams VillaMagna, Dreams PV, and Las Caletas (don't know if a garden thing at LC is possible??). Budget is relatively limited, so a private villa is pretty much out the window (I think.) I absolutely DREAD the thought of having to use an outside wedding coordinator / planner, that is why Dreams and Las Caletas both appeal to me, kind of all-part-of-the-package places.

Anyway! We have 4 days there and I'm just wondering, does anyone have experience with having a wedding that was kind of garden-ish? Something not on the sand? And if so, do you have any recommendations of places / AI resorts that I haven't thought of yet?

ANYYYY advice would be so helpful. I'm 1000% overwhelmed right now.  shots.gif  It gets better right???

Yall have a great week! Thanks so much!

I'm getting married at Dreams PV and have actually visited the resort. If you don't want to do the whole beach thing, they have a gazebo that you can have your ceremony at that overlooks the beach and a reception that is on a terrace by one of their pools and is very close to the gazebo. I'm not really sure that is garden-ish at all but it definitely gets away from the strictly beach vibe.

Let me know if you have more questions. :)

Hi Lisa,

I thought of 2 places for you which are not hotels. The first one is Martoca Beach Garden, in Bucerias, 5 minutes away from Nuevo Vallarta. They have a big garden, right on the beach. I have been to various weddings there and it is very nice. I am sure you could ask them to do your ceremony in the garden. They have very big Palm Trees which could provide you with shadow. Here is a photo gallery of a wedding there. They had their ceremony on the beach but you can see if you like the place. http://foto.lamatas.lv/Wedding-Erin-Ulises/

The other one is a Restaurant called Oscar's, right downtown Puerto Vallarta on the Isla Cuale, it is a little island on the river. They have a very nice garden.  I have attached a picture where you can see their garden for you.

Regarding the tent, some of my very good friends are wedding coordinators and they told me that you could rent one starting around 5000 pesos, so around 400 usd. Of course those are the basic ones, not the prettiest ones, but it is not as expensive as you might think!

I hope this helps and I will let you know if I think of a resort with a very nice garden.

Pierre

Thank you both for the advice and tips- Maratoca Beach Garden looks BEAUTIFUL, and I'll make sure to check it (and Oscar's) out on my trip! :)

xoamdxo, you said that you've been down to visit... quick question about that. I emailed the wedding coordinator using the address from the Dreams PV website to see if I could schedule a site tour. She just emailed me back, but it was in spanish. I can read it for the most part (trying to channel those HS spanish classes) but I'm just wondering, how did you set up your visit? The option that you talked about sounds GREAT, I'm hoping it works out.

Thanks again to both of you for the advice!

I actually stayed at the resort for a few days. So I told them in advance through email when I would be there. The wedding office is very close to the lobby area. Weird that she emailed you in Spanish, all my correspondence with her has been in English. Anyways, I met with them informally and they let me try the cake, I also was able to check out wedding/reception locations and rooms in the preferred tower (we were staying in the old tower). If you can't get a good response from her through email...add dreams pvr on facebook...she is also on facebook too. Please let me know if you have ANY questions. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
