HELP PLEASE - I'm having trouble picking a resort for our wedding Jan. 2012

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies,

smile124.gif          I really need some help please. Every time I think I find the resort, something I read or hear makes me start the search again. We're not picky but we are accustomed to staying at 5 star resorts all over the Caribbean - we want a great beach/ocean, great food (most importantly at the buffet), and a nice looking resort for our guests and wedding.

The resorts I have looked at are the following:

- Dreams Riviera Cancun: We were told that the ocean has a lot of rocks and you can't walk in without water shoes.

- Now Sapphire: I was about to book this resort yesterday until I was told by a few people that the ocean is not swimmable at times due to seaweed or way too windy to be allowed in the ocean. I really liked the online package for the weddings - they looked beautiful

- Marcelo Maya Tropical: We were told the food is only a 3.5 star at best and the rooms are really outdated.

If we were to continue booking through Air Canada Vacations (which we would prefer) - our options are:

- Grand Sirenis

- Gran Caribe Real

- Now Saphire

- Now Jade

- Iberostar Paraiso Beach

- Grand Riviera Princess

- Barcelo Maya Tropical

- Gran Porto Real

- Dreams Riviera Cancun

I am open to any suggestions or input for anyone kind enough to help me choose a resort - I SHOULD HAVE ONE PICKED BEFORE THE END OF THE WEEK!

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP!!!smile159.gif

We are going to the Grand Sirenis in November 2011 for our wedding.  We are partial to this resort as we go there every year for our trip without kids!  We love the staff, rooms, food and the grounds.  Pretty much everything about the resort we love.  It is going to be based on your own personal preferance but we are thrilled with our choice and the response from the wedding planners has been fantastic!  Good luck with choosing!

You may have already picked a resort but I've been to all of those and Dreams Riviera is my favorite.  It is just stunning.  We were able to swim in the ocean, maybe a little rocky in areas but not in all areas, most areas actually.  Some seaweed comes up on the beach, depending on the weather but they are very good at cleaning it up.  Their wedding department is amazing and the do offer a free wedding program.  And the Wedding Gazebo is very "south pacific" looking - just beautiful!  Good luck!  I'm sure whichever one you choose, it will be spectacular!

Are you really in love with mexico??? the only reason is that we have booked the GPLH in Jamaica and serious you cant  go wrong with it. Every resort is going to have its pros and cons... what u need to look at is whats important to you and yours... this is what i got from my resort:

ALL INCLUSIVE

GREAT WEDDING PACKAGE

GREAT FOOD

GREAT STAFF ( WEDDING STAFF)

GREAT LOCAL VENDORS

BEAUTIFUL BEACH

FANTASTIC ALL INCLUSIVE PRICE

and kid friendly..with kid section and baby sitting optional

you should talk to your TA and ask her opinion...and stay with the resort and stay with your first choice.... its normally the right one! thats what we did a year later and we couldnt be happier!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
