OOT Bags - templates, pics and price break down

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much everyone! It is so nice to hear other people like them too! I keep wanting to add things but I know I need to STOP! I will be adding our welcome letter and wedding timeline, possibly a thank you note but I don't think much else.  Any suggestions as to things anyone sees as missing?!

Mari98: You can totally get them done I am just sickeningly ahead of time with mine.  I wasn't sure when I would get the opportunity to do it all in one "swoop" and since I was across the boarder I kind of just dove in head first! I hope the list and breakdown helps you out in creating your own!!!!

Best of luck :)

I did the same thing with the sewing kits! Definitely walked by them a number of times!!!  But was able to get enough in pink for each of my bags!

Thanks again Tori!!  woot.gif

I'm glad I started shopping as early as I did...my favourite find so far are these jute bags from Dollarama I'll be using for our OOT bags in Mexico.  I'll be attaching a tag to the bag with our "logo".  Just waiting for my first shipment of freebies from Vistaprint to see how that works out in the end.

How big are the bags? I went to my local Dollar Tree last night and I did find a few fuschia tote bags, but they seemed so much smaller than the photos on here. I didn't buy them because I couldn't imaging everything fitting. I was thinking maybe they were out of the larger ones?

After convincing FI about OOTs and reading what feels like every OOT thread on this forum I finally was able to narrow down my list of what I wanted to put in them.  When I came across the dollar tree totes on here I knew I HAD to have them and of course the Bubba Kegs for all our guests.  As a Canadian bride a cross boarder shopping trip was needed to hunt down the infamous dollar tree totes and I was sure I was out of luck because they were sold out online and I had hear many brides tell me on here that their stores were sold out as well.  Five dollar trees, asking 1 stranger, no lunch and a lot of persistence (thanks Mom!) I was able to track down 36 tote bags!!!!!

Bubba Mug 32oz Mug  --  Walmart (US)  --  $6.22

I originally planned to do everything in our colours but when I found some great items in the US I decided that bright and tropical colours mixed would work just fine, also that way everyone wouldn't have the same colour bags, mugs etc. and there would be less confusion.

Notebooks - mix of red, yellow, green and blue

ID Cases - Mix of grey, pink, green and blue

Altoids - Red (peppermint) Turquoise (wintermint)

Tums - Mixed Berry, Citrus, Original Mint

Sewing Kits - Pink, Green, Blue

Blistex - Turquoise and Green

Bubbas - Green, Turquoise and Black

Tote Bags - Red, Yellow, Light Blue, Green, Pink

We will be giving the large Bubba Mugs to our Wedding Party, BM and GM, Parents and ourselves!  We were going to do the whole group in the large ones but they would be a lot harder to pack, the smaller ones will all fit in one suitcase easily and also will be able to be used at home for coffee etc.

I added a few extra bandaids to each First Aid kit that I purchased at Big Lots Bandaid Brand 20 for $1.00!  I like the Johnson and Johnson brand name kits but Dollarama here in Canada has great kits with a lot more pieces, alcohol wipes, gauze roll, tape roll etc that these do not have.  We will be doing up a master first aid kit with other medications, and first aid supplies and I will be putting a small note in every kit that will let our guests know this so they can use anything should they need it.

I will be purchasing plastic test tubes with lids that I will put some dish soap in and place inside every mug so our guests can wash them once we arrive in Punta Cana.

Overview of some of our LOOT when I arrived home from Buffalo!!

IMG_3218.JPG

I think that is everything, if anyone has any questions let me know!!! I will post images of my tags and my templates in the next post!!!!!!

Hey Tori or others. I went to some dollartrees in wisconsin but could not find ANY of the totes that everyone loves so much.  Anyone seen them lately or are they no longer available?  I am in toronto, so maybe I should try Buffalo?

I would hate to go all they way there and be unsuccessful. :(

MJKH: I don't know how but in the hustle and bustle over the last week and a half I must have overlook your post!!! I am so so so so sorry!!!!! I am so glad to hear you were able to get the sewing kits, they are $1.50 in Canada (I picked up a few more at our Michaels here just in case) but I think it is still such a great deal because I LOVE they they include the little scissors.  I am sure the ladies will throw these in their purses our travel bags for the future so that makes me happy and the plastic case keeps everything safe from getting torn up or anything like that!

I picked up one of the jute bags from Dollarama as a sample but we were able to find the dollar tree bags, Ijust love those jute bags too but they were hard to find.  When other brides were posting about them they weren't around and then I just happened on a bunch.  My mom loved the one I had so much I went and bought about 15 (3 different versions) and she is taking some of them to use at gift bags at christmas!!!!! I thought it was a genius idea as you pay $1 for a gift bag anyways, may as well give a cute reusable tote!!!!!  I am using my Jute bags to carry all my wedding and DIY stuff from room to room in our apartment, they have officially become my wedding bags!!!  I love the tag idea as opposed to the iron on transfer as it allows guest to use them again without our names plastered everywhere!!! Did you do an OOT thread? I would love to see what other items you are including in your bags!!!!

The bags I got are 19" jumbo totes.  They are the perfect size and fit a bath/beach towel no problem.  Unfortunately they sold out VERY quickly online and in the dollar tree stores from what I understand.  We went to 5 or 6 stores to get mine and just lucked in at ONE store, the rest were sold out.  They came out with a 14" tote that I saw online I am wondering if this is what you saw (solid colour) they are the same quality but more of a lunch bag or small purse size.  I didn't think they would be THAT much smaller but when I saw them I was SHOCKED!  Your OOTs would definitely be full but I don't see the bag itself being re-used!    Hope this provides a little clarification!!!!

Sorry just saw your post, I would suggest NOT going to Buffalo as I think my mom and I hit EVERY dollar tree in buffalo, amherst, tonawanda, niagara and the surrounding areas lol  We were on a mission.  Another bride on BDW mentioned she had called the warehouse and they are officially out of stock (probably a month or 2 ago) coming back in February 2012 (too late for me!) and what the stores have left is all there is.  They are EXTREMELY popular, I even came across an ebay seller selling them for $10 a bag which just made me ANGRY as I know he bought them for $1!  If this is the style of bag you are set on I recommend checking out the Oriental Trading bags, they are slightly more expensive I think 12 for $20 + shipping but they are the same style etc and you can get them all in one colour! Let me know if you would like the link!!!

As far as I have heard from brides on here and other pages the Dollar Tree Jumbo totes we all love so much are pretty much SOLD OUT everywhere!

Holly just saw your date and if you aren't crazy like me and don't NEED to have your bags done 7 months in advance I would suggest waiting and ordering them when they come back in stock on the dollar tree website next year (February/March I am told!)  You can order them by the case and even have them delivered to a dollar tree in buffalo and go over and get them!  At least that way you are sure to get them, otherwise you could just make a trip and hope they have been shipped and are in store!!!

Hope this helps :)

Thanks so much, that definitely makes sense. They were very small. I asked the girl there and she said they did have the tan & pink ones over on the wall and I searched and searched but couldn't any!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
