Would you get married at a resort that did not allow you to chose your own vendors?

in terms of photography- it would be a huge deal breaker for me; if i can't get their person to understand my vision/ if i didn't like his style there would be no way they could get me to use him.. these pictures are forever.

in terms of decor, it wouldn't matter to me, example: i am deathly allergic to flowers, and the resorts vendors have flowers in almost every aspect; so i opted to go for the simple options in the package, made it clear i want no flowers or decorations and I'm bringing my own with us, this way its personalized without having to have more conversations about why i dont want any flowers.

I would definitely not choose a resort that does not allow outside vendors. Although I have not decided on a resort or vendors, my vote is based on principal alone. I feel that if a couple is generating business for a resort in the form of multiple bookings for their guests, that the couple should be entitled to have their wedding day exactly as they imagined - INCLUDING vendors and extras. Not to mention, most resorts boast the ability to "help you achieve the wedding of your dreams" and to stay true to that I feel the resorts should allow the couple to remain in control of the decisions, That being said, would anyone happen to have an updated list of resorts in the Riviera Maya/Cancun area that DO allow outside vendors? Im having such a hard time comparing resorts and making a decision! Thanks girlies! Kat

Absolutely not!  From what I've been reading, not only is the hotel markup on vendors often ludicrous, but the quality is often mediocre in comparison.  (To be fair, some brides have gotten great work from their resort vendors.)  I personally have a particular vision for my photography that a resort vendor isn't likely going to be able to carry out.  Thus, I'll be going to a venue that values my business enough to work with me on bringing in outside vendors.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
