Atlantis bride question

Hello All!  I am getting married at the Cloisters/Atlantis on February 15, 2013.  I am so happy to have come across this forum! We just got back from our site visit a couple of weeks ago which had its ups and downs.  Our coordinator at the Atlantis, Faycita, is extremely disorganized and extremely frustrating to work with.  Does anyone have a coordinator with whom they are having a good experience??? We are doing a plated dinner and our tasting was mediocre.  The Nassau grouper was, however, phenomenal. I'm curious to know what kind of experiences others had?

Has anyone come across any good tips for negotiating room rates or are they pretty strict in this regard?

We are using Cacique for florals and design.  Shawn and his team have been my saving grace.  He is so professional and knowledgeable and very timely with his corresponce, which is extremely important to me.  If anyone still needs floral/design, contact them immediately!! They are wonderful.

Also, has anyone found a good videographer?? I got a quote from Troy Aitken for around $4500 which seems a little outrageous.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.  And please let me know of any useful tips/tricks you all have come up with (especially with regards to cutting costs!)

Thanks and congratulations to you all on your engagements/weddings!

HI guys sorry for the slow response I've been very busy.  So, I went to Atlantis in July and practically nailed down all the details during my visit.  My planner is Faycita and so far she's been great. I hate to hear you are having problems hreddy84 as it is a bit stressful planning destination weddings.

I choose the following:

We are doing a plated dinner and we are selecting the filet and crab crusted sea bass.

Shared Love Package

Island Preacha for Ceremony

Tim Aylen photos (considering video)

Ocean Overlook ceremony

Fathoms reception

Wildflowers for decor- They are phenomenal and know this space like the back of their hand

Still trying to finalize little details like hair and schedule but the bulk is done.

How many guests are people expecting?  I'm thinking around 30 for me.

Hi! I am heading down to Atlantis in a few weeks to plan our wedding. We are looking for the beginning of September 2013. What kind of info/suggestions can you give me. What can I do before I get down there and what should I do and who should I meet with while I'm there? Any info you can give me will be helpful! Thanks!

-Amy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
