Trash the Dress....yes or no???

Recommended Posts

I want to "trash the dress" but don't want to actually trash My dress. I haven't had time to get another since its so last minute that I decided this. So how dirty does it actually get rolling around in the sand and can I get it clean after (I love my dress too much :(  )

My dress was fine!  It got filthy underneath form the wedding day...the swim in the ocean cleaned it up a bit, I just rinsed it in the shower and shook the remaining sand out once it dried...I plan on wearing it next month for a photo shoot with a friend and I don't need to even get it cleaned ( I will Post some TTD photos soon!)

The moment we discovered TTD sessions, we immediately knew we HAD to do it.  BUT not just with anyone, only with Del Sol Photography.  Honestly, I can say my FI is more excited for this than our actual wedding...hahaha.  They are incredibly unique and being from San Francisco where pristine beaches are severely lacking, we'd be the first of our friends and family to have these uniquely AMAZING photos!  I've "liked" Del Sol on Facebook and am seriously in awe of every single new photo they post.  They've even been incorporated into our daily conversations...haha!

As much as I'm stoked about this, I do have 2 main questions/concerns:

1. I'd like to find another dress for TTD, something more flowy and maybe even a vibrant color.  Any suggestions on material or colors that look good underwater in cenotes?

2. I'd say I'm a recreational swimmer/snorkeler/scuba diver (certified), however I wouldn't say I'm too comfortable with opening my eyes underwater.  Hand me goggles or a mask and I'm golden...I'm sure that'll make my TTD photos really unique...haha.  My concern is that I don't want my uneasyness to show in the photos, as I've seen others have.  Additionally, I wear contacts which might be another reason why I'm afraid to open my eyes underwater.  I've even contemplated getting LASIK before May 2013 to see if it'll help.  My FI was most likely a fish in his past life so I'll look completely awkward next to him. My question is, do you have advice on how I can train myself to be more natural underwater? Or can any of you offer your experiences?

Thanks! <3

A fuschia or purple would look amazing next to the greenery of the cenote! What a great idea

To answer your questions....

1.  color UW really really makes a difference, but just a simple white will be amazing.   This bride had a pink dress... WE LOVE Color.  Think about it though, you could add color by adding a wrap or a longer piece of fabric.   Also try adding an accent of color with the shoes :)

2.  Eyes open is a good idea, pretty much makes a big difference BUT its not a killer.  We have lots of folks close eyes due to contacts, etc.  I do try to encourage opening though keep in mind its fresh water, so it doesnt burn like swimming in the ocean or a pool.   I shot another Adam and Even style TTD yesterday, she had Lasik and we even had this convo and she was SO SO SO at ease because of it...probably a super suggestion if time allows.   Even if you don't get it, we will help you.

OH,  regarding your "uneasyness" showing... remember where we are and what we are doing.  If that doest make one uneasy because of how far outside the box it is, then there is something wrong.  Key is that you enjoy yourself...  we take care of the rest amiga!

My advice is to play in the water each chance you get, practice exhaling your air on the surface then going underwater... here comes the summer in North America so you can swim and go swimming and practice some :)

Cheers amiga!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
