Trash the Dress....yes or no???

Recommended Posts

My Fiance and I are also doing a TTD session! I had to convince him to do it because he thought we would drown (especially after hearing all the stories of brides being swept away and drowing). I assured him it would be fine! I just realised that maybe I should think about what kind of material is best for TTD.  My dress is organza and I'm not so worried about it being 'trashed' as I would get it cleaned when we get home anyways.  What's everyone else's experience with their dresses materials in the water and sand?

Hi! My dress had a chiffon overlay on top of satin (and a bit of crinoline). It was TOTALLY fine. We did ours on the beach, then rinsed off really well in one of the beach showers, wearing the dress, then went in the pool for underwater shots. After, we filled our hotel jacuzzi tub, put the dress in, and kind of swished it back and forth, just to rinse off the chlorine mostly. Then we hung it in the shower to dry. Like everyone says, it looks cleaner than it did after the wedding.

I am wearing it for our AHR this Saturday, and then I will have it cleaned and put away.

So I do not know about organza, but my materials were absolutely fine.

I hired HDC and did the TTD session, and I actually love those pics more than the other pics! My dress was fine after just rinsing it out in the shower and laying it outside in the sun, then I just shook the excess sand out! It was as good as new! If anyone would like to see my pics you can find me on Facebook under Heidy Martinez :) I have all the pics there under Ceremony, Reception and then TTD. You can see how HDC works!

I would recommend that everyone get trash the dress photos! We paid $600 for a 1 hour session, but it was totally worth it. Our TTD pics turned out to be my favorite pics we got. It was really fun to do too. The experience is worth it! Now we have pictures that are beautiful enough to blow up as pieces of art too!

As for the dress, I got a polyester dress from Davids Bridal in their $99 sale. The only real similarity to my actual dress was the sweetheart neckline. It was perfect though! The polyester didn't absorb water which made it easy to work with. It also worked really well in the water and mad for pretty pics.

If you don't want to spend the extra money on a second dress, everyone says that their dress comes out fine after a good rinse. I was just too nervous to try that....

My two cents though.... Every bride deserves to get a beautiful set of pictures like this! TOTALLY WORTH IT!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
