Was there a meaning behind your wedding date?

Recommended Posts

Just thought it'd be fun to see everyone's answers :).

We're getting married on June 9th, 2012. After we got engaged we knew we wanted our wedding to be on a 9th of a month. We started dating on the 9th of February, and when my Fiance bought my engagement ring in August it was after the 9th of August so he forced himself to wait until the next 9th of a month which turned out to be September 9th, :). We really wanted to keep the date we got engaged and the day we got married the same, but September 9th, 2012 fell on a Sunday and with most of our family being from out of town (Some of mine being 4-6 hours away) we didn't know if our families could, or would make the trip down here when most people have school, work etc on Monday. I also reeeeally wanted a wedding on the beach (We're not doing a destination wedding, but we are getting married on the beach! :) ) and September can be really iffy with weather (Although, I think any month in Ontario can be iffy, we've had snow in April for goodness sake! LoL) so we went with June :).

It also is an easy date to remember, 06.09.12  cheesy.gif

Any reason why you picked the date you did, or was it one of those "Well it's not hurricane season during this month, so let's go then." :P.

Picking the month for us was pretty easy.  We knew we wanted to get married in either December or January as my parents own an RV business and that is their slowest months, so its easy for them to take vacation.  I will graduate University in December and as we didn't know exact dates we decided to chose January.  From there we chose the week we did as it was the one week in January that had low season prices (the week before is the tail end of New Years) and the week after is when high season begins.  We were originally going to me married on January 10, 2012, but because of flight date changes we had to change our wedding date.  The only date left available the week we are going was January 13, 2012 (which is a friday!).  So thats why we are getting married that day!

We started dating on August 17th.  FI proposed on December 17th so logically we chose the 17th.  We chose April 17, 2012.  My birthday is the 21st so if you reverse the twelve you get 21 and FI's birthday is the 4th so 21-4=17.  It's meant to be :)

We chose our date based on My Grandmas Birthday.. With us getting married in Jamaica, and her being 85.. we knew she would not be able to come.. That and her and I are very close... Also when we got engaged.. she gave me my Grandfather's ( he is passed away) and her wedding rings.. Soo We are getting married in their wedding rings also.. We will still have our own wedding set.. but we are using my Grandparents rings for the ceremony. So it was only fitting we got married on her Birthday. It worked out perfect too because it is Damn Cold in Canada in February, so the Jamaica destination is perfect timing!

What an awesome tribute and honor to both your grandparents.  I got a little misty eyed.  I think it's perfect

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
