erinbrooke124's picture journal - 6/14/11 CANCUN

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies!  I thought I would post pictures of my planning process...everything came together wonderfully!

FI and I met 4 years ago through mutual friends and made it official -- twice!  We had a small civil ceremony at home on June 7th, then did our symbolic ceremony in Cancun a week later on June 14th.

We put our deposit down in April 2010, so I had 14 months to plan :)

Parent Gifts - Photo Books from ShutterFly

I gathered older family/baby photos and told our "story" through photos, all the way to our engagement pics :)  Parents loved them!

Also, I purchased MIL poem in hand calligraphy from r8chel06 (sorry, no picture) in a black frame.  Here is the poem:

Mother-in-law' they say, and yet,
Somehow I simply can't forget
'Twas you who watched his baby ways
Who taught him his first hymn of praise,

Who smiled on him with loving pride
When he first toddled by your side.
'Mother-in-law' but oh, 'twas you
Who taught him to be kind and true,

When he was tired, almost asleep,
'Twas to your arms he used to creep;
And when he bruised his tiny knee,
'Twas you who kissed it tenderly..

'Mother-in-law' they say, and yet,
Somehow I never shall forget
How very much I owe
To you, who taught him how to grow.

You trained your son to look above,
You made of him the man I love;
And so I think of that today,
And then with thankful heart I'll say
OUR MOTHER

Then, for my mom, I purchased this custom made frame from thesugaredplums on ETSY.  My mom did a reading of the e.e. cummings poem "I carry your heart" at our ceremony.

Everything looks so wonderful! I adore ee cummings, what a lovely idea! I have been obsessed with those invites from sproullie designs on etsy...  Love them! Just trying to somehow justify the cost seeing how I only need 15...  She just created a new color scheme to include what I am using - purple and orange...  Did your guests love them too?!

@ torilynnsmith - I got the bridesmaids sandals from Nordstrom (BP Shoes) and mine I ordered online (I think from Shoes.com).  They are different.  I had a hard time finding mine; I think the design is no longer made and Steve Madden has a new design out that is similar.  In all honesty though, I liked the bridesmaid's shoes better and they fit better.

Thank you.  I loved the poem and e.e. cummings as well!  I did those invites in purple and orange (almost used those colors to begin with!).  We had a ton of compliments on them!!!  Try talking to Sarah, she did her best to stay within a budget for us.  We didn't get fancy jackets or sleeves so that we could afford the invites, and of course our guests didn't know the difference.

Thanks for the advice, I have been in touch with Sarah, thinking I may order just the pass and make the rest myself... investigating options right now, we have a bit of time...

As for the steve madden sandals, I put them on my wishlist on the site, I believe they are called groom now... comes in a multi colored jewel (kind of fun!) and the standard clear jewel.  they certainly photograph well!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
