Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand- Coordinator trying to change signed contract?!?

Recommended Posts

Any input would be greatly appreciated...

We are currently planning a January, 2012 wedding at the Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand. It has been all but a nightmare so far. The coordinator is super busy, and as a result, has been very unresponsive to emails. I guess that's to be expected, so not my primary concern.

In order to host the wedding/reception, and to provide guests with honored room rates, we were required to sign two contracts. One for each. In order for guests to reserve their hotel rooms, the coordinator initially wanted everyone to email copies of their credit cards to her- and she would take care of the process. She offered the same instructions when my parents went down to check the place out, and consequently the front desk had no evidence of their reservation when they arrived.

Due to internet security concerns, and what happened when we sent my parents down- my fiance and I were not at all keen on this idea. After numerous, slightly confusing exchanges- she finally agreed to set up a link on the resort website, so that guests could complete the transaction on an encrypted form. You can see another couple has the same type of link for their October wedding, so we knew it was possible. We just couldn't figure out why she was reluctant to do it for the first couple of weeks of us asking.

Anyway, After waiting a month, with no link, I finally get an email from her yesterday stating that she made a mistake on the contract I signed for the hotel rooms, and the rooms are actually more expensive per person than she indicated. She sent me another contract, with prices increases around $15-20 more per person per night, and stated that she would provide the link after I signed this new contract.

Is this possible? I'm getting pretty fed up with the run-around she's given us- and have a hard time believing that we shouldn't be honored the rates she initially provided in the first contract. Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any legal ramifications if the resort breaks a signed contract that THEY provided? What a headache... I definitely do not recommend this place for weddings.

They have finally sent me a link as well and I experienced the same issue with my WC. We now have a link, and contract signed, but hesitant about whether they really blocked the rooms for us or not. I've been trying to get in contact with WC to start coordinating my plans, but she has now said I have a new coordinator, and i havent heard from her at all.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
