On site Beach Palace -- wedding coordinator supervisor????

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if Lisa Lizano manages only the Miami WCs for Palace resorts? If so, does anyone know a good supervisor contact for Beach Palace?  I'm having an issue with my reception area @ Beach Palace... I have gone through 2 on-site WCs (one was promoted) and now my WC tells me that the Sky Terrace is booked for my reception night since October 2010, although we have had many many conversations about it, including my telling her to book it and her saying "OK what times?" in May. Obviously if my wedding is at 6pm there is really no other times other  than 6:30- 8:30 at the minimum....so I am super frustrated she did not tell me this before. I am now forced to use the huuuge terrace built to accomodate 700 people for 20!! I am afraid this is going to look ridiculous! Thanks for any help!!! I'm having a bridezilla moment, I'm afraid!

Hi everyone-- we just got back and yes, the Palenque terrace is actually beautiful and I liked it MUCH better than the Sky Terrace, even for my small group b/c it was the only private area option-- all the other areas have people milling in and out.  I was dealing with Mario originally, but he was replaced by Suzete b/c he was promoted. I do wish she would have answered my questions more directly b/c I am a detail person. When I asked if she had any other weddings the same day as mine, she said no, but didnt mention she also had a huge private event with close to 80+ people at the same time-- this caused her to be really spread thin during my event and my friends had to do a lot of what I would consider WC work-- ie telling the DJ when to announce us, when the first dance was, when we were going to cut the cake, etc... in fact, I ended up having to do some of that myself. I dont know if this is normal, but I had thought the WC would handle the flow of the event. Also, our custom made ring bowl was dropped or something and broke, which really bummed me out.  Its not the end of the world, and overall, I would not let trivial things like this ruin the night for me, but I will say it was not as smooth as I had hoped. All of my friends were aghast and could not believe that we saw her for probably about 15 mins total the whole night. Even my photographer was shaking his head at her... and he does tons of weddings in Cancun... I just sort of felt like I had been left there to figure it out on my own-- which was for me, not great and what I had wanted the WC to do, b/c I am not a real expert on the flow of a reception. I think if she had not had another event going on @ the same time, things might have gone much better. So ladies, don't let my experience worry you-- I think if there are no other events going on @ the same time as yours or you arent a big stickler for the organization of the reception flow, you will have no problems. And again, it was nothing so horrific that it ruined the event--- just not how I had hoped it would go-- it felt unorganized. The hotel has a great atmosphere-- it was smaller and less hectic than Cancun Palace, but still busy enough to not be boring... the pools werent as fabulous as some of the other Palace resorts, but were still nice and our group had fun at the pool bar and loved the ocean. The ocean is gorgeous! Definitely the nicest beach I saw among Cancun Palace, Sun Palace and LeBlanc.

Well I am glad that you enjoyed the Terrace and I am saddened about your experience.  Mario is awesome he was my SIL WC, but honestly he was only present during the ceremony and NOT the reception so I don't honestly know what they are required to do, but it doesn't seem that your experience was much different.  Except for the ring bowl.  Congrats on becoming a Mrs.

Thanks for the pictures Ivan! It makes me excited for my wedding there too. And I'm excited about using DJ Doremixx also, although I think you ( Ivan) were already booked on my date ( November 5th 2011).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
