Single Guests

Recommended Posts

I have been dealing with this issue for a couple weeks now, the rates for the resort are finally available and I have had a good number of people put down their deposits but a couple of my bridesmaids and a few close friends have not yet put theirs down because they are single.  The rates we were quoted were for double occupancy and of course it is more expensive to stay in a single.  I was considering bunking people together but I'm not sure how that would be taken (as many of the ladies are hoping to have found someone by then)

Has anyone had this situation?

I posted this in another threat! so i am going to copy and paste.  I had this situation too, and for the most part people dont mind saving a couple of hundred to bunk with someone else.

What we did was we sent out RSVP's, and for any of the singles that RSVP'd we kind of grouped together and sent out messages telling them that if they want to save a few bucks (it was 400 less to bunk up with someone) that they could room with someone else, really, how long do you spend in your room when your at your tropical paradise?? Everyone asked to be bunked with someone if there was room, we even had groups tripple up. We grouped people with similar interests and went from there, most of ours knew someone in the "singles" pool so that made it easy as well.

Now with that being said, IF they find other people by then, they can always switch around rooms when they get there! The hotel wont care who is staying where, for example we had someone book with a friend, then their boyfriend and another one of our friends booked a room, so the boyfriend and girlfriend will room together and the friends will.. even though they arent listed together in the booking... Or we had an instance where the first kid was 400 but the second one was 700, so what we did for that was we sent one child with the parents, and then listed the other child as traveling with another couple, but in the end the child will still room with the parents!

Sorry for this being so long, hope it helps!

We also have a few singles coming.  Most of them know each other so they are choosing to share a room rather then pay the higher single prices.  We kind of left it at their discretion whether or not they wanted to share a room or not and most have chosen to share but a few are staying single and are okay with the higher cost.  I guess it is what ever they feel comfortable with.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
