The Mr. and I are torn between two Catholic chapels in Cancun; the Marriott CasaMagna and the Gran Caribe.

My hubby is Mexican and we want his family and friends to be able to attend, so we have to keep guest costs low. Also, I'm kind of in love with the Gran Caribe chapel.

Still no firm date (although our anniversary is 6.25, so anything close to that would be awesome. Advice and ideas are welcome! We are hoping to go do some site visits in August 2011!

So glad I found this site! The reviews and the firsthand information is soo helpful! Looking forward to meeting other DW brides!

cheer2.gifCongrats!

My hubby to be and I are also doing a Catholic ceremony but at the Moon Palace Immaculate Conception Chapel! I also looked at both those places because we knew we were going to do a Catholic wedding, and we ended up picking Moon Palace because of their great deals/packages. It was a hard decision though!

Our photographer has a few slide shows of weddings at each resort. Maybe this will help you pick a resort and give you some good ideas!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! Wow, those photos were amazing. I was actually thinking of flying down our own photographer. She is my mom's best friend's daughter. She did our civil wedding photos (a few of which are in my albums). Our budget is pretty limited still, but Del Sol is sooo tempting...amazing work!

Also, I was really thinking I wanted something simple - like, no bridesmaids or anything...but after seeing how gorgeous the bridesmaids looked...ugh...what to do, what to do?!

I think I'm also coming at things from a slightly different perspective, having already been married for a year.

I kind of have a 'don't sweat the small stuff' attitude...but the small stuff is also sometimes the fun stuff. I don't know.

Finally, when we planned our first wedding, we were doing a 1940's vintage theme with a peacock color scheme. Definitely changing the look for our Cancun wedding!! I know we want to keep the teal color in there, but I don't know if I want to go tropical with bright colors or keep it low-key and elegant with white flowers, like callas or whatever....

So much to decide!! =) So glad to be here!!

Hey viajerajulie!

Del Sol is definitely amazing! I still tear up looking at them a year later!!

I saw you mentioned peacock and had to mention something! I don't know if you'll definitely incorporate any peacock into your Cancun wedding but I have a suggestion. I wanted to have turquoise (and did with my bridesmaid's dresses) but kept the flowers mainly white with calla lilies in cylindrical vases on our reception table with fuschia rose petals down the middle (pictures are below). Also, it's funny you mention peacock because I just (literally just today) posted on my site a feather, shell & crystal hair comb with one peacock feather (pic attached). It's called the "Lakshmi Goddess" :) Please let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to help with any, "this is what I did" stories too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
