RIU PALACE LOS CABOS BRIDES APRIL 2012?? POST HERE!!

Recommended Posts

Fisrt and foremost, Congratulations to all of you!!  I am getting married at Riu Palace on April 13th.  I was so excited when I just ran up on this forum.

I plan to have 50 guests (36 have already booked) and communicated with Jatziri Acero (Operations Manager) last week about the reception.  He said that I could have a private reception at Don Julio Terrace - Steakhouse for $500 with the set menu.  This will allow me to have music and a dance floor.

I sent him few other questions, but he said he didn't have the answers so he forwarded my e-mail to Sakura Ono.  I have communicated with her in the past and she is pretty good about responding.

I have had a stress free planning phase, but I am starting to stress with the date getting closer. It also stresses me out that I cannot speak with the coordinator about the final plans until 2 months out. Sakura told me that either Adrianna or Kylene would be my wedding coordinator and one of them would contact me 2 months out.

Question, has anyone spoken to any of the cooridnators about flowers? I was originally told that if I wanted calla lilly, it would cost $520 for 10 flowers.  However, I just read a blog written by a bride who had her wedding at Riu Palace in 2011.  She stated that calla lilly was included in the available flowers.

I read where someone wrote about the price of the trip for our guests. I went through a travel agent and they were able to use Delta Vacations who allows you to make payments up until 30 days prior to the departure date.  So, many of my guests took advantage of this.  As the bride, I also will receive $25 back for every room booked for my wedding. Not a bad deal.  There was another travel agent here in Indianapolis that gave the bride and groom package for free if 10 parties booked.  So, you all may want to shop around if it is not too late.

I have sent 11 e-mails in the last 24 hours.  Sakura has answered all of them.  She has been doing wonderful responding to e-mails.

I plan to get married on the beach and had a question about the arch.  It's not really one of the prettiest ones I have seen. So, I am going to have to add more flowers to jazz it up.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just wanted to give everyone an update. The coordinator has now stared working with me and given me all the checklist and price, menus, etc  for everything. Her name is Jatziri [email protected] and she has been GREAT! She sent me information to speak with the floral people (Alina) and the photographer. I know normally they dont start working until two months, but I guess since ive been bugging them so much, they went ahead and started for my April 28th wedding!

I have been speaking with her as well and completed my checklist yesterday.  I have also been in constant communication with Alina (florist). She has been wonderful! I have sent her pictures of my vision, including a huppah, centerpieces, and fabric in a color that the resort doesn't have.  She says she will go out and buy the fabric and can do whatever I need for her to do. Over the past week, my nerves have really settled and I feel pretty good about the process.  It is all starting to come together.

Hello miwakostory My name is Rosalind and Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I'm getting married at Riu Palace in June and I've been talking with the florist and the Riu does not have the colors I'm using and what is Alina going to do to assist you with your colors? I have requested information from the wedding planner on companies I can rent table linens from and chairs and they haven't helped at all other than to tell me they charge $ 200 for outside vendors! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Ladies! Sounds like so much progress with you guys - I'm getting anxious for my April 21st! miwakostory - cool to hear you are renting out the steakhouse terrace! I wanted to rent out the steakhouse but am just short of the 60 required guests so this is a good alternative. What is the set menu there? Do you know if it is possible to do a bar there still, or just beer/wine as offered by the restaurant? Did you get you questions answered about the flowers? My top pick is calla Lilly also- so I hope it won't cost too much extra! What is the fabric for that you mentioned? Do they offer that for decor on the arch? Oh my goodness! Less than 3 months:)

Rosalind, she is buying the fabric for my huppah. I don't care for the arch the RIU has so I am having Alina put up a huppah.  My colors are pink and green and RIU did not have these colors.

I am buying my chair sashes from efavormart.com.  They have organza sashes for 50 cents and table runners for $2.15. I am having 45 - 50 guests so I am spending only $25 for the chair sashes.

Kateiharv, the set menu I chose was the filet mignon with shrimp and chicken options.  I will look for the menu and post it on here. The set menu/all-inclusive only offers beer and wine. I read that there is a bar near by. I also read on few posts that if you tip the waiters, they will bring cocktails out to you.

Far as flowers she said she can do whatever I want her to do.  calla lilly was my first pick too, but the last WC (before the change) told me there was an extra charge because  Cabo was a desert. I have changed my flower choice since then so I am not sure.  I can ask Alina or you can conact her at [email protected]. Far as the fabric, I decided that i do not want to use the arch that RIU has so Alina is putting up a huppah for me. She had multiple pictures, but I sent her a picture of what I wanted and she said she was able to do it. The cost is $220 - 250. I don't have to pay a vendor fee because she is the florist RIU uses.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
