Hello 2012 brides! (hi kary!) We are getting married on April 21 at 6pm on the beach (with pool audience)... I'm flying in a week early to prep and relax - so I might see you there Michelle! Thanks for the tip on the efavorMart.com table runners - what a great deal! Are they always that cheap or is this a big sale for them? For you ladies looking for skinny vases to take down - Have you thought about the Eiffel tower vases? You can get a case wholesale for less than $100 at Koyalwholesale.com I'm pretty sure they are acrylic or something that won't shatter in you luggage. Did anyone get the updated 2012 menu yet? -Katie

Wow, thanks Katie, I checked out the website, and I'll likely order them if I don't find something soon.

Yah, the runners are great, I think that is their normal price, but I am not sure, I have recieved mine and they are great.

I look forward to seeing you down there ! What date do you get in ? We get there April 13 and my wedding is on the 17th!

How many people are you expecting and where are you from?

Keep in touch :)

Hello Ladies!

So first off I am SOOOO thankful I found this site.  I would be so lost without the "wedding trailblazers" and all of their helpful tips!  I just got engaged to the man of my dreams 11/19...and I am in the process of researching and hopefully booking possibly in April, maybe even the 21st (at 4 pm hoping for the San Jose Gazebo ) We are also considering early May, like 5/12.  I was wondering if any of you ladies could let me know how much pp they charge for the baja norte reception plated food?  I know you have to pay the $500 to rent the location, plus additional food charges.  Just trying to get an idea of how much this all is going to cost before my fiancee starts inviting 2nd cousins! LOL.  It's so easy to say, "oh we're having a destination wedding, come if you can!" but the problem is, everyone wants to go to Cabo!  I'm wondering how much all the other services like the dj, photographer, etc are all going to be as well.  Hopefully not outrageously expensive like here in Orange County, CA!  I am considering the "royal package" and it seems like $1600 wow that's a good price, but from what I'm learning once you add everything else in you're probably at least at  a few thousand in at least.  Any tips and advice you ladies can offer is much appreciated!  Looking forward to going through this together!   :)

Hi Ladies!

Ugh, sorry I've been MIA...Just so busy with the planning!  Only 5 months, oh boy!!!

I just bought my dress yesterday!  I had bought a different one, and decided it wasn't the one I really wanted :(  I kept reading about girls on here that do that and I thought they were crazy, but now I understand!

My Dress!.jpg

I also ordered a ton of decorations for both MX and my AHR.  I ended up ordering chair sashes and table runners from Tableclothsfactory.com for really cheap!  $.60 for the chair sash and $2.99 for the table runners.  I got them in fuchsia...but I'm having a hard time making a decision in if I should use blue instead.  My BM dresses are Malibu from David's Bridal, and my accent color is fuchsia.  Problem is, I LOVE pink so I feel like all the stuff I want to use to decorate is pink, and the only blue I will have is the paper lanterns and dresses!  Anyone see this as a problem?

I also ordered the raffata (?) fans and some luminaries from Oriental Trading Company.  FYI they are having free shipping on everything today.

How is everyone else's planning going?

Hi Charley's Girl!

Congrats on your engagement!!!

I'm glad you found this site too, it is really great to be able to talk to other girls getting married at the RIU.  My date is 5-12-12, actually one of the dates you are considering :)

I am having my reception at the Baja Norte, and the prices range from $34.00pp-$56.00pp.  These prices will probably change for 2012, and the last time I spoke to Adriana she said they would be working on the 2012 menus in November so they should be done with them pretty soon.  Anyone have the new ones for 2012 yet?  Another thing I am still trying to figure out is if the Baja Norte dinner comes with the red & white wine, sparking wine, beer, pop, water/coffee or tea like the private restaurant dinner does.  When I asked Adriana, she said yes, but to be safe I am planning on being quoted the $15.00pp for the drinking portion....One thing you will find about this resort from this site is that they are VERY Inconsistent with what they tell one bride from another...they also don't always give you direct answers which drives me Crazy!

As far as the photographer I am using Marcel of Glez Photography.  I wasn't really impressed by the RIU's photographer, and Marcel was just about the same price.  I think I am paying $1,330 for 5 hours and 250 prints that are going to be digitally enhanced.  This doesn't include a coffee table book, but I will probably make my own.  I want to say that Mango Productions (the RIU Photo people) quoted me $1630 for 5 hours.  The only problem with using your own photographer is that you have to pay RIU the "vendor fee" of $300.00 which I think is dumb.

We are not using a dj...We are making our own play list on our Ipod and bringing down our cordless Bose Sound System.

That is great that you live in LA, I imagine that Cabo is a very affordable trip for everyone!  We live in MI, so its about $ 1,250/pp with air for 4 nights. I think we have about 32 booked so far!!

Let me know if you have any other questions, I will try to help since I have been planning for a year now and have found out most of the prices :)

Hi Michelle!

So you are probably almost done with all of your decoration buying!  Last time you wrote me you had so much!  E-mail me your vision!  I'm excited to see it all :)

And I agree with Crys that we shouldn't hold our breath on the open bar response...You know how inconsistent they are there!  Have you heard anything about the 2012 menu?

And to answer your question, I am from Michigan (the Detroit area) its actually pretty close to Windsor Canada.

Hey Kary,

I know where Detroit is , I used to live in London , Canada, only 3 hours away from you. Now I am in Western Canada though.

I have been slacking with my planning, but I guess I have most things already. For clothing and assesories, I just need to buy a flower ( which I have already picked out, I just have to go get it . )

I have not heard from the menus yet , but  I have decided against doing menu cards because I am afraid that once we get there, something may change ( venue , etc ) and I am afraid it may be a waste of money, who knows, once I speak to Adriana more when my three months arrive, I may change my mind again.

I am still in a toss up with the  favors though. I would like to pick up mini rum or tequilla bottles and use them as favors but don't know how easy that would be ?? I have never been to Cabo!

I think you should keep your original plan and use the fuschia runners and sashes, if you love pink that much, you will regret not having the color incorporated into your wedding. Besides you already purchased them ! :)

Have you been talking to Adriana much? I emailed her a few weeks ago but didn't hear back, I will wait until my 3 months which is only a month away!!! EEek.

I will email you my vision soon, I will take pictures of most of my ideas , I have just been really busy with Christmas coming and everything!

keep in touch

Michelle

Hey Kary,

Thanks so much for your reply!  I appreciate your help in all the advice, since we officially have a date booked of 4/21!  I'm super excited!  I'm kinda nervous about squeezing all this planning in 3 months, my biggest concern is how all of our guests are going to get booked etc in that short amount of time!  But, I'm sure it will all work out!  Did anyone take advantage of the group rates offered by the Riu?  My travel agent worked something out where every 6th person booked gets to stay free.  Thought that would be perfect for family or anyone who can't afford to make it, but I think all guests that count towards the number have to arrive on the same day...so that may be a little tough with planning due to conflicts of people's schedules.  Also, that includes a semi-private dinner, so perhaps we could use that as our rehearsal dinner and then the wedding package includes a semi-private dinner as well for the reception.  I do not think we will have more than 40 people, so hopefully I will not have to have our reception somewhere where we have to pay per person for the food.  I guess before I can even start considering reception sites we gotta have some people RSVP'd huh?  This is all so up in the air and I'm usually a planner but we are so anxious to get married, I'm kinda winging it lol.  My fiance has "courted me" the old fashioned way for the last year and a half, we are not living together until we are married and so needless to say we are SO ready to get married in a hurry.  We are only 111 days away from being able to start our life together!!!  Its going to be so amazing!  Dress shopping next weekend at David's bridal, keep your fingers crossed I find the perfect dress!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
