RIU PALACE LOS CABOS BRIDES APRIL 2012?? POST HERE!!

Recommended Posts

Hi ReyDar!

Congrats on your engagement!  I would guess that if you are going to have 70 people your best bet would be to rent out an entire restaurant for the $1,800.00 fee.  The steakhouse has a capacity of up to 150 people,& the Mexican is 120 people.  You could also do the beach which has a 300 person capacity. I am having my private dinner at the Baja Norte (pool side) and it only holds up to 63 people.

We are also planning on bringing down a Bose system so we can play our own music and don't have to worry about getting a d.j.

Hey Kary,

I have a question. I was talking to Adrianna about the Baja Norte and she told me that the max number was 60! On the sheet I have from the resort about all the private events , it says 20- 70 for the Baja Norte.  Did the numbers change do you know? I decided that I am not going to agrue with her now because we only have 52 booked, but I am worried that we will have a few last minuters book and bump us up past 60.  Have you talked to her about the max capacity? I also talked Sakura several months ago and she also told me 70 and possibly 80 could fit, I do have all of my email correspondance. I think I will wait until I get there , just in case its' not even an issue, but it makes me angry how inconsistent things are sometimes .

Let me know what you know! :)

Hi Michelle!

The sheet I have says 20-64 people.  I am not sure how old it is, but it would have come from Adriana with in the last year.  I haven't spoke to her about my capacity because I am only having about 55-60 people at the most.  Maybe Sakura was thinking that if you had a really large group of people then they would set you up on both the baja norte and baja sur sides?  I am not sure.  Maybe they also tell you 20-64 because they don't want to have to add extra wait staff out there.

Have you spoke to Adriana about the menu options yet? She told me about 3 months ago that the staff meets in November to start planning on the menu options for the following year.

Also, do you know if the baja norte includes the wine, beer and soda option, or is that additional?  I think it does include it by looking at the private event menu, but maybe the menu only applies to the restaurants?

One other question-have you found anyone who has had their reception on the Baja Norte?  I haven't and it would be nice to have someone to ask questions to.

Let me know :)

Thanks!

Kary

Hey Kari, Can you email me the sheet that Adrianna sent you?  ( 20- 64)  Do you have the private areas sheet that explains all areas and the max capacity?  That's the one that says 70 max , and then I was going through my emails from Sakura in July and she told me 80 Max after she talked to the coordinator!!! So I am confused, but I would like to see what she had sent you if you don't mind. [email protected]

I spoke to Adrianna about the menu last week and as of then , the 2012 was not ready yet ,but she did tell me she would inform me when they were available.

With the drinks at the Baja Norte, it is my understanding that ANY private event you have to also include the $15.00 pp open bar fee. I could be wrong, but from my understanding , the wine, pop, beer option is only available to the semi private locations.

I haven't heard of anyone having their  reception at Baja Norte. It would def be nice to know though! HOw is everything else going with your planning?

Last week, I got my satin table runners in the mail and they are super nice ( for $2.49 a piece ) !!! I bought black ones. I also bought my wedding shoes last week ( some glittery Jimmy Choo Heels) EEk, so nice! I had to splurge on them since I got my dress for so cheap ( my rationalizion anyways)

I have most of my decorations bought , just have to pick up a few more things.  I also am having some programs made ( but am going to wait until closer to the date in case bridal party changes - already lost one girl that got pregnant ) And also , the menu cards that I will do closer to the date as well.

Keep in touch.

Michelle

Hi Michelle!

Sounds like your planning is on the ball!  I just started buying decorations, just paper lanterns so far, and some bling for my bridal bouquet.  What did you buy besides the table runners and Fancy shoes!!~WOW~!  :)

I want to order my runners, did you end up getting them from the website I gave you?  Did you get the satin or the polyester ones? I am just wondering how do we know that they will be long enough?  Sorry for all of the questions!

As far as the open bar, I asked Adriana today if we needed to pay extra for the open bar since we were ordering off of the private per plate menu, or if we would be required to pay the $15.00 per person for it.  Her response was that if we are paying per plate or the buffet at the Baja Norte then the open bar is included as long as its from the Baja Norte Bar (I assume the pool swim up one).  She also said that this includes all drinks that can be found at any of the bars in the resort + soda, water etc.  I was surprised at this response, but happy!  I would much rather spend that money on cool stuff like sparklers!  Did you decide if you are going to bring down your own centerpieces?  The vases I want are like 14", so they may be a little hard to get down there, unless I end up giving one to each bridesmaid and make them carry it on the plane.

Let me know how things are going!

Hi Ros64, Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

As for the chair sashes , They do have some colors avaialable, but not a huge selection, same with chair sashes. I don't know the colors they have because all I know is they didn't have what I wanted.  All the linens provided are white. I bought my satin table runners at Efavormart.com  for only $2. 29 a piece and they are great. HOpe this helps!

Hey Kary,

Hows it going!

As for the the things I have bought so far, I have my centrepieces, ( even though I am still on the hunt for a skinny vase that is easy to transport 12 of them actually)  , I bought my runners, which I did look into the site you gave me but they didn't carry table runners. I found them at Efavormart for $2.29 a piece. I bought black ones, and a few ivory ( for my home) and a few red. The red is not the proper Red I am looking for though, I need it a little darker, but no big deal,I only wanted one of those anyways for the guest table, so I will look around more . I bought dark red rose petals for the aisle, I have my ring pillow and bought from etsy ( where I purchased many of my things)  It's really cute, burlap with black ribbon and a red flower . (  I think you know though my colors are red and black and white :) )  I bought my guest book , well used all of my engagement photos and got a hard cover leather book made with lots of my fave love quotes and got it made at Costco.  I bought these sparkly diamonds to put on the black runners on the reception tables and just a ton of tiny votive holders to hold tea lights , I want a very romantic feel so the more tealights the better!

I bought about 20 fans ( kinda a black with white hearts on them ) to be placed sparingly on the ceremony chairs for those to need/want them.  Once I have all my pictures together, maybe I will email you my vision. I feel kinda all over the map here. :)

That is great news about the open bar, I am estatic as well about that ! Perhaps I will send her an email soon just to have that in my correspondance !

Keep me posted.

Where do you live Kary?

good luck with the open bar response let us know how that turns out...just a fair warning you should clarify the answer as they say one thing and really mean something different ...or even leave out exact details.

We found if you don't ask and clarify...they don't tell. (until it is too late) seriously

I would hate for you to be disappointed come the day

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
