RIU PALACE LOS CABOS BRIDES APRIL 2012?? POST HERE!!

I'm getting married in April 2012 at the Riu Palace and am soooo super exicted!!!  Any other brides for April 2012 and any tips to share? What location are you using? reception location?  Photographers?

We are getting married April 17 th  at 4pm at the San Jose Gazebo and reception at Baja Norte.

Congrats! We are gettting married at the riu palace on May 12, 2012.  I would love to keep in touch with you through your planning, since we are getting married so close together!

 

So far we are getting married on the beach at 4:00 and for now have booked the Baja Norte also, but I am thinking of changing it to a semi-private location since we will probably have around 50 guests. How many are you expecting?

Hey Kari, that would be fab, would love to keep in touch and exchange ideas and thoughts.  We are expecting around 50 as well. I read a post on here earlier about a bride who had over 40 guests and they made her have a private reception because they had too many people. I didn't read that anywhere in the terms and conditions from the RIU, but you might want to look into it!  In the terms and conditions, I thought I read also that you can't have music played at semi private due to to other guests in the resturant at the time of the wedding. I have been in contact with Sakura from RIU and she has been on the ball getting back to me quickly with all of my questions.!!!

Hi ladies! I am getting married at RIU in March! I cannot wait. We are doing the ceremony at the Gazebo and the reception private bc we too are expecting 50+. I dont know about you guys but I found that Sakura was great at getting back to me until booked my wedding then she really doesnt want to help as much? Have you experienced this? Also I was told that the wedding coordinator does not contact you until 2 months prior to your wedding? EKK! I am a planner and that worries me! Keep me posted on your progress and ideas! Talk soon

 I think that previously the limit for a semi-private reception was 40 people. I know you both mentioned Sakura as your wedding planner, but I don't know who that is.  I am working with Adriana Diaz...I asked her about the semi-private reception and she said it is up to 50 people.  I know that you can't have music at the semi-private so I think I am going to try to pay for the private reception cost of $500.00 and then try to just order off of the basic menu if possible so we don't have to pay a per person charge. 

 

Adriana told me that she won't really call me to discuss options until about 2 months before the wedding...I was like EEEK too!  I am a total planner and want to know everything now!  I asked her why I was able to book the Baja Norte so far ahead of time but not the semi-private dinner and she said it was because she keeps the private receiptions booked on a different calendar. 

 

WedCabo 33 where are you having your reception?

 

Did both of you get a copy of the menu for the private reception choices?  Do you know what you are choosing?  Some of the items were a bit different, but I have never read anything bad on here about the food.

Hey there, Congrats on your upcoming wedding!!  HOw is your planning coming along? Where are you flying from? I had very good communication with SAkura as well, but she is only responsible for the booking process so that's why she probably hasn't been getting back to you as promptly.  She explained to me as well that we will have to wait until closer to the wedding to speak to the coordinator with all the details. Don't stress about it, from what I have heard , they are very good at doing everything when you get there. There's only so much you can plan having a destination wedding, that's the fun part!!  Let me know if I can answer any of your questions , our weddings are so close

Hey Kary,

 

I have also booked the baja Norte for our wedding. Do you happen to have the email of the person you are dealing with??  I did get a copy for all the private menu options, I think we will go with the $44 pp option.  You should check into ordering from their basic menu because from my understanding, if you have a private reception , you have to order from their  " Private Menu" , which is 34- 54 $$ per person. I think the only way to get around that is to do the semi private. They sure know how to get ya!!!

  How many people are you expecting ?  We just sent out our invites and have 26 booked and are expecting around 50.   We should def keep in touch and share ideas. When is your wedding again? I don't remember seeing it.  hOPe to talk to you soon!

Did you happen to check out RIU Santa Fe? If so, was it cheaper? My girlfriend got married last July and she said they were offering Free Weddings and rooms were only $78 per night and it was All Inclusive. Sounds crazy right? Do u happen to know anything about that? We are trying to go the cheap way because we have a lot of family that can't afford expensive hotel prices.

Hi Mishele,

the wedding coordinators e-mail is mice02.loscabos@riu.com .  Her name is Adrian and she has been great getting back to me.  Her turn around time is around a day or so.  Her title is Operations Manager...so I am not sure if she is the official wedding planner or not, but she has answered all of my questions so far. 

 

Wow, you have a lot of guests booked so far for just sending out your invites!  Are you having the private reception because you thought the max amount for a semi-private was 40?  I really want to keep the Baja Norte but I am trying to save money since we are having an additional reception at home also. Our wedding is set for May 12th.  I guess I will have to wait and see how many guests book closer to November.  That is when Adrian said the menu's from the restaurants come out.  We are expecting around 45-50 people.

 

I see you are flying from Canada.  Can I ask how much it is for your guests for flight and hotel from Thursday - Monday?  We are coming from Detroit, MI and it is about $1300.00 per person, with $750.00 of that cost being airfare!  I see a lot of Canadian brides that have their wedding in Cabo, so I was just curious if it is cheaper to go there than it is from MI.   I am afraid with the high airfare prices we will have some guests not able to attend.

So since last we talked this is what has happened.

 

Had the steakhouse booked private for 50 guests...Now a new manager has come to the resort and we were told new mgr = new rules. They will honor the 50 unless it drops.

our guest list dropped from 50 to 48 so they said we now have to pick a different restaurant.

 

We are thinking the Don Julio terrace since it holds up to 70 with a dance floor...well now told actually holds 50 with dance floor if you move your tables

 they will set up the beach for a dance floor for an extra $500...but no lights

 

WC has not emailed back in a week and we are a month away and nothing is confirmed...can I STRESS now
