Try searching for the thread for that resort.  There should be brides on there who can give you feeback on the time of year to get married.  I know May is the busiest month for destination weddings and can be hard to book a specific date.  June is a nice time as prices are a little cheaper and not so hot.  August is scorching hot!  I guess it just depends what you want!

Congratulations on your engagement!  Enjoy EVERY minute of it and start the planning early!  Early planning = less stress!  Smile, smile, smile because everything from the dress fitting to the cake tasting to invitations is supposed to be the FUN part of planning a FUN event!  (itâ€s easy to forget sometimes).  Treat everyone around you with grace and kindness and they will come through for your big day.  Most importantly, HUG and KISS your honey often!!!

Congrats on your engagement!

Hereâ€s a few things Iâ€ve learned from wedding planning so far:

  1. Wedding colors are tricky.  I picked hard-to-find colors (coral and teal) and it seems everything comes in more basic colors like light blue, royal blue, navy, purple, pink, orange, green.  Just a thought to consider when choosing colors.
  2. Dance lessons!!!  This has been the MOST fun of preparing to get married.  Expensive…but SO worth it!
  3. It IS possible to get an amazing but less expensive dress.  Keep searching.
  4. There is a reason people go with traditional bridesmaid dresses…they are easy to match with the rest of the bridal party.  I went with just regular gowns from Nordstromâ€s and had to find out the hard way NOTHING comes in that color (coral!!!)
  5. DO NOT write anything about your registry on Save the Dates or Invitations….TACKY!  I thought this was a given (this advice is in every wedding book ever written…), but Iâ€m finding tons of people are making this mistake and it just rubs guests the wrong way.

Hope this helps!

Here is a little blurb from our site on weather.  Please remember this is our humble opinion and others might see it differently.

MARCH, APRIL, MAY

Things start heating up mid-February and by April you can be roasting on the beautiful beaches of the Mayan Riviera. Water temperatures have not caught up but outside temps have started to rise.

The "rains" start in April peaking in July-August. This is a wonderful time to travel because after "Spring Break", things calm down until the summer travel season starts in late June. Water temps are warm enough to swim comfortably; it's hot but not "July-August" hot. Weather-wise, it's a great time of the year to go.

JUNE, JULY, AUGUST

This is the hottest time of the year in Playa Del Carmen, especially mid-July and August. During these months the Mayan Riviera beaches fill with vacationers!
Summer is also the rainy season however if it does rain, it tends to hit only once a day and for a very short period. Quite often you are happy it rained as it tends to cool things down a little, at least for a short while.

On a cloudless day in August the heat can be unbearable for some people. Shoes are needed because the sand can get too hot to walk on. Even walking any great distance can become a chore. Dehydration is a major factor during the summer months as well as sun-burn. At 12:00 noon you can get burned in 15 minutes without proper sun-block.

Hope this helps...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
