Turks and Caicos Newbie

Hi Everyone!!

My fiance and I, engaged for 4 months have set our sights on the Turks and Caicos. We have family that lives far and wide, across the United States and found that if we have an intimate wedding/honeymoon it would be more affordable and more realistic.

The problem is that we have NO IDEA where to start with the planning of the wedding. Savings account of course, but beyond that we are stuck in the mud.

If you have any helpful hints and helpful planning for the Turks and Caicos, please, please, please help!

Thank you!!

Sincerely,

Amber

Congratulations and welcome to the forums Amber! Never been to Turks and Caicos but it sounds wonderful. Have fun with your planning and do some searching around. Lots of great articles to read in the wiki like this:

Take care and ask your questions.

Welcome!  We found the first thing we did was narrow down the location, which you have done!  After that we listed all the possible resorts and slowly narrowed some down, due to price, or just not what we were looking for, and then once we narrowed it down to a few different ones we went to a travel agent and asked her opinion on the resorts we were looking at.  From there we further narrowed it down, got pricing, and picked our dream resort!  Good luck with the planning:)

Congratulations and welcome!

I have lived here in the T&C for about 16 years now, and know the country pretty well.  What are you looking for in a resort/wedding?  We can narrow it down from there.  You can check www.turksandcaicosreservations.tc which is a great comprehensive website that lists all of the resorts and villas on island and they keep all of the current deals and prices in one place.    (I have no relationship with them, just a good site we all recommend on island because you can get info all in one place)

You can also search The Islands location here on the forum and search for Turks and Caicos within that and get an idea of past brides.

Ask away, hope we can help!

Hey Amber,

Congrats on your engagement.  My fiance and I got engaged in Turks in April and are going back for our wedding next June.  I almost have my hotel contracted, but have a ton of information on Turks that I would be happy to share.

If you plan on having a wedding planner, I would suggest starting there as they can help guide you through the location selection process.  I have been communicating with Diane at Island Harmony and she is amazing.  Having been a wedding planner in my past, I can tell you she is fantastic.

If you do not plan on hiring a planner, please let me know what you are looking for and I would be happy to provide any insight from my research!

Good luck,

Karey

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
