I have marked on the map where I believe Don Julio terrace is. Keep in mind it is below the steakhouse on the bottom level.  Without ever being there it is hard to tell if it is an easy or difficult path to the bathrooms and bar.

Crys-

I know this is not exactly what could help you, but I found a wedding video that at the end has the reception dinner and dancing on the terrace, granted it looks like the terrace of possibly the Mexican restaurant but from the pics I've seen of the steak house, they look the same size, actually the Mexican one may be smaller, but take a look to give yourself an idea of size, a video is better than a pic.

If this doesnt let you go to the right video, go to mangoweddings.com, click on motion, go to recent videos, find KIARA+PAUL, 2nd page and watch the video, its at the end.

Again, I know this isnt exact but may help

PS- have you asked about a way of getting mixed drinks, or how far the nearest bar is? There BETTER be a convenient bathroom, thats ridiculous if not!!!

hey Michelle,

Yes I have seen that video, it is of the Mexican terrace.

I have asked about getting blended drinks and the answer I got was "quite frankly I have never had guests leave for different drinks. Everyone was satisfied with beer and wine"

Bathroom is by the steakhouse...I just think we need to go up to the top level to get to it. next to the bar...LOL

I am at the point of...they got our money...nothing I can do but just go and go with the flow and make the best of it.

How sad is that...it's our wedding and we have to make do or pay through the nose.

But what is funny is that when we were willing to pay through the nose it came down to number of guests and couldn't have what we wanted.  Then when I ask "Are you serious?" Regarding the price they want for as little as they are giving, the answer I get back is "well you were going to pay this much before for the other".

They just don't get it and customer service is not in their vocabulary.

Sorry now I am sounding bitter.

Crys-so frustrating!!!! I am sorry that you are going through all of this! Like you said, I guess all we can do is go with the flow and make the best of it (unfortunately!). It WILL be a beautiful wedding and just try and have fun. When is it again?

I too am going to probably do the steakhouse and rent out privately. Can you give a review after your wedding? It will be really good to get a review from you after! It would be very helpful for us!

Crys,

Yes!  It is stressful and I'm sorry that the venue isn't working out the way you had planned.  However, I can honestly say that after reading pages and pages (yes I am bored at work!) of wedding reviews, it seems like every bride says despite any hick ups their day turned out wonderful wink.gif

I bet your day will be great, and I can't wait to see the review.

Keep Breathing!

Hi Jen,

I'm just wondering since your wedding is in a few months if you have tried contacting the WP to tell her which location you want for your reception?  I know my wedding isn't until next May, but I am a crazy planner...  I don't want to wait until 2 months before to figure that out with the WP, and what happens if someone else takes my spot?  I just wondered if you spoke to the WP recently and if they told you that you had to wait until Sept to book the steakhouse?

Thanks!!

Kary

Kary, The old WP would work with the girls ahead of the 2 months but the current management won't let the new WP do that. I think Jen had her location set before, Jen, correct me if I'm wrong with that. But as of now they won't set anyone in unless you have an email from the previous WP saying you get that location. My wedding is the weekend before Jens, can't wait to meet her, but I think she has her location choice set from a previous planner.

Hi Kary!  Yes, Michelle was correct-the old WP had booked the sites for me previously. When the new WP came on, she tried to tell me that I couldn't book until 2 months before, but I had already but the location in my invitation! When they saw the emails I had received from the old WP, they honored it for me. But from what I understand, for anyone from now on-has to wait until 2 months before :(  It is helpful to try and get as much information about the resort and wedding options before that (there is lots posted here!), so that you can make decisions quick. I have heard all good things about weddings there so just have faith with that!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
