Bridesmaids dresses - where to shop?

Recommended Posts

I have one of those american apparel dresses! They are pretty great on the beach, does it look fancy enough? I think I want something in a chiffon-like material, the aa dresses are cotton.  In the pictures it would still look great, and i love the idea that they could tie them up in different ways.

This is the debate I am having with myself!!!! They would totally be wearable again for the girls BUT are they dressy enough.  Our wedding is going to be pretty casual but at the same time I don't want it to look bad in pictures.  The VS ones my friend had were almost shiny so they looked a lot more dressy.  Etsy has a few sellers who make them as well in "fancier" materials.

I can sew so I MAY attempt one myself... found a pattern thats pretty straightforward but I don't know.....

You can always fancy it up with accessories. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a black dress which in pictures I think will look dressy enough regardless of material. I just want something flowy.

The cotton/jersey material of the AA dresses could be dressed up with sparkly jewelry and hair accessories or flowers in their hair.. or some sparkly flip flops! :) And they'll have the bouquets (if you plan to do that) which would dress it up as well.

Good on you for being able to sew!! I would love to learn!

I love the idea of black and ivory on the beach...and if it's too much for your girls maybe a black sash.... i saw a really pretty pearl necklace with a black ribbon on etsy today I thought was stunning....

but as for where to buy I stumbled across this website I really like for bridesmaids dresses (and dresses for me) - some are kinda short depeneding on the body type your trying to fit but they have a range of prices...it's www.lulus.com - I havn't ordered anything yet but I've got my eye on a ton of their pieces!

for example this dress is $34.50 and comes in two colors

Etsy of course, but any women's clothing shop will do. I think many brides today are ok with their maids wearing clothing that can be worn again and don't scream "brides maid dress". It doesn't have to be designer. You could pick your favorite shop and just give your girls free reign to get whatever color or style, etc. It's your day!

We are looking for cobalt blue dresses as well, and are having a heck of a time finding them! I found this one for $110 at Tristan and America, we're going to try it on tonight (the belt is optional). Fingers crossed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
