I even put in frozen chicken breasts and just shred before serving with two forks. I've gotten great compliments and you can add more hot sauce to make it nice and spicy!

        I love making chilli in mine. I cook up some ground beef (although you can not use any meat, or you can use ground turkey too) with a chopped onion and some minced garlic. In the pot I add all kinds of beans, just the canned ones from the grocery store...I use pinto beans, chilli beans, kidney beans and black beans. I also throw in a can of Rotel. Add the meat/onions and leave it to simmer on low for a long time. Obviously everything's already cooked once it gets in the pot, so it's bascially ready as soon as it's hot. But simmering it for a few hours really lets the flavors develop. I also add some spices to taste. I use Cumin, Chilli Powder, salt/pepper and if I'm feeling crazy, sometimes a little squeeze of yellow mustard. (it's yummy, I promise!)

        but anyway, this really is a healthy recipe since you're not using anything bad in it. and it's easy to keep vegetarian if you want. Just omit the meat. I mixed everything except the meat together and then separated some out so I had "meaty chilli" and "veggie chilli" at my last party. I usually serve mine w/ fritos and shredded cheese (there's goes the healthy-ness! lol!) but you can also serve w/ cornbread or just eat it as a soup. Also, I use the leftovers as a topping for baked potatoes. So yummy!

          I use my slower cooker quite a bit. I love that dinner is ready when I come home from work...and the house smells so good.

          My fav. recipe is one of the first things I got from my FMIL. It's super easy and no cream!

          Take 1 whole chicken (you can use parts if you want, but we love the left overs) and place in crockpot. Over the top spread one large can of tomato paste. Then and one jar of green olives and one bottle of beer and a few garlic gloves. Cook on low for 8 hours and serve over white rice.

          The chicken just falls off the bone and the rice soaks up the sauce. We do keep a small bones bowl at the table, but make a game out of seeing who finds the wishbone.

          I've also placed a roast in the cooker and added frozen stew veggies, red wine, and a few spices...so easy.

            Super-Easy Stew!

            -1 or 2 pkg stewing beef (or pork, or 1 of each)
            -baby carrots
            -baby potatoes
            -half an onion

            Brown the stewing beef/pork in the frying pan (I usually sprinkle a bit of flour on when I do this) Throw it in the slow cooker with the carrots & potatoes <I just eyeball the amt. of veggies according to what we like the most in our stew> (you could add more veggies, but we like it simple!) Throw the half onion in the side for flavour. Cook on low for 6-8 hours (I do 6, but my cousin insists on 8 ) When finished add flour/water & beef bouillon (or however else you like to make gravy) Let cook for anoither 10ish minutes until the "gravy" gets a bit thicker. Make sure you take out the huge onion chunk so nobody bites into it!
            We usually proceed to cut up some fresh bread, slather it with butter & dip away while we eat!!
            Very filling!! Tastes even better the next day after it's thickened!!!
            Now I think I'm gonna make some for dinner tomorrow.. lol

              I found this thread in a search and thought it would be fun to start it up again! Anyone have recipes they would like to share? A favorite meal you make? I love to cook and am always looking for new things to try! Here's our favorite crock pot recipe:

              Angel Chicken

              1 lb. skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
              1/4 cup butter
              1 (.7 ounce) package dry Italian-style salad dressing mix
              1/2 cup white wine
              1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed golden mushroom soup
              4 ounces cream cheese with chives or veggies
              1 pound angel hair pasta
              Fresh chives

              Melt the butter over medium heat. Add the packet of dry Italian style salad dressing mix and cook for a minute. Add in the white wine, golden mushroom soup, cream cheese and cook until melted and combined. Place chicken breasts in the crock pot and cover with sauce. Cook on low 4-5 hours. Serve with angel hair pasta and fresh chives.

              **Sometimes I add olives, mushrooms, onions, or whatever we're feeling like that particular day. The sauce is soooooo yummy! Make sure to have lots of bread with your meal to soak it up!

                Yum Andrea! Sounds great! Though, for some reason, I hate angel hair pasta! LOL I always have to substitute!

                I'll have to find my favorite recipe. I usually just throw things into the pot, no measuring.

                  Oh, i am going to try as many of these as possible! So nice to be able to throw something in the crockpot while I'm at work & come home to it all ready to go!

                    ok, You need to have a large crock pot to do this one, probably 4+ quarts.

                    As a general rule, you always want to have the post filled at least 1/2 way, but no more than 3/4 of the way to ensure proper cooking.

                    This recipe is SOOOO easy and so versatile! My aunt used to make it when I was a kid.

                    Crock Pot Chicken -N- Dumplins

                    4 Bonesless, Skinless Chicken Breasts (approx 2 lbs)
                    1 Can Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup
                    1 Can Condensed Cream of Celery Soup
                    *The low-fat versions work well too. You can also use Cream of Mushroom.
                    1/4 Cup Diced Onion
                    2/3 Cup Frozen Peas
                    2/3 Cup Diced Carrots
                    1 Can Low Sodium Chicken Broth
                    1 tsp. coarse ground pepper
                    1 Tbsp chopped Parsley

                    2 Cans (10 oz) Refridgerated Biscuit Dough DO NOT USE GRANDS

                    1.) Cut chicken into large chunks
                    2.) Combine all ingredients in Crock Pot, EXCEPT biscuits
                    3.) Cook on low for 6-7 hrs.

                    About 1 hour before serving, tear or cut the biscuts into 1-2 inch chunks. Add to the crock pot, stirring gently so the dough doesn't stick together. Turn the crock pot up to high and cook 45-60 minutes, stirring occasionally.

                    You can serve with mashed potatoes and have Carb Fest 2008! The chicken gravy stuff is great with potatoes.

                    I've also made this a vegetarian dish by using vegetable stock and adding more veggies.
