We need to start our thread going more frequently!!!!!!!!  My birthday was nice thank you for asking we were away for a family function (FIs side) from Thursday evening to Sunday but it was still nice!!!

So an update on our planning process:

- Resort and wedding date book:  We will be getting Married February 4th 2012 at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana on the beach at 3PM

- Dinner Booked:  We will be having a "semi-private" dinner (6:30PM) at the MC Steakhouse Restaurant, the semi private is a great way for us to save money as it is a surf and turf meal for the first 60 guests included in our wedding package (YAY!!!) unfortunately if we go over the 60 we pay per person but it is only $10 a head so 70 ppl is only $700... not too bad! I think we will be able to stay under our 60 ppl at this point (my wallet hopes too, as do my completed oots lol)

- Reception Booked: We will be having a private reception at the MC "Wet Bar" which is a bar with a nice canopy (if it rains) near the pool area.  They will set this up with round tables a cake table, stereo system etc.  We will be having our reception from 8:30PM-11PM I am considering either pushing it back 8-11 or forward 9-11 (this is what most brides do) But I think the 2 hours at dinner will be good.  This is $500 per hour and includes an open bar for the first 40 ppl and then we pay per head (ohhhhh gotta love the extras)   Any opinions on the timing for the reception?

- Photographer booked:  We will be using the AMAZING Katya Nova http://www.katyanovablog.com for our wedding day and TTD session.  We narrowed it down to 4 photographers, HDC, photo souvenir, Katya Nova and Phot phil.  I sent the options to FI with no opinion as I wanted to see what he thought.  We both picked Katya as our fav but didn't think we could afford her (Oh, PS we had already put a deposit oh Phil but I was not excited about his work at all!) after going back and fourth with Katya she was great to work out a package for us that would suit our budget and our desires and I am so so so so so excited for her and her fiance Rob to shoot our wedding!!!! I love the idea we will have 2 photogs capturing emotions and images at the same time

- I have decided to go with the basic ceremony set up but will be bringing 3 ft sheppard hooks and decor to line the aisle with.  Have no decided on chair sashes.....

-OOT bags are DONE DONE DONE, mind you at the FIs function this weekend we learned we need to make about 10 more bags so I will be heading back to the states to pick everything up!!!

I am sure I have more to report but that is all the MAJOR stuff for now!!!  How is everyone elses planning going?!

You girls are absolutely amazing with all of your planning. I feel so behind! We have picked our date: Feb. 29, 2012 in Maui. That took a lot of thought as I went back and forth about having my wedding in my hometown so more family could come but decided that I've always dreamed of getting married on a beach. So Hawaii it is! Our wedding is only going to be our parents and siblings; a total of 12 people. We're renting a house for everyone to stay.

I went dress shopping this past weekend. I found 2 dresses that really stood out. My mom is coming to visit in a month or two and we plan to make the final decision then. I will be going with an ivory Bridesmaid dress. I wanted to go a little more casual than a formal wedding dress.

I haven't even started to think about the reception, OOT bags, invites...

Welcome to the forum Dawn and congrats on deciding on a DW, if you have always dreamed of getting married on the beach I think you will be VERY happy with your decision, and Maui is so amazingly beautiful!

Tomorrow is 6 months a 1 week to the day of our wedding.... I can't believe how quickly it is going now.  I really want to try and keep the conversation in our February thread going as Feb will be upon us before we know it!!!!!!

I am working on my "Reserved" seating signs for our parents at the ceremony and dinner, I am creating a TO DO list and a DIY TO DO list.  I am getting a little BLAH with the whole wedding planning process but I think that is because I have just come back from my best friends wedding and just need a break!  Once I get my lists and such completed I will share them all with you!!!!! I am hoping to start my "music" list as we may or may not opt for an ipod wedding reception but I don't want to leave it to the last minute if we do.

What is everyone else thinking about for music for the reception? DJ or ipod?  How did you decide?  I just am having trouble wrapping my head around the $1000+ cost associated with the DJ for 2 hrs......

Still need to choose BM dresses.... what to do what to do!?  Anyways hope everyone elses planning is going well!!!!!!!

WOW! Thats awesome! I knew someone with a leap year bday...we always joked that she was really much younger than us since she had much fewer bdays than us!

Also, I finally got my friend to send a pic of me in my dress that she took of me last summer. Its not the best pic since its from the side, but it kind of shows what it looks like at least a little! Now to just lose a little more weight so they can lace me up even tighter!! LOL

Tori-We are going with the iPod, our close friend is a DJ so we are having him do a mix and then we are going to upload it and play it that way...seems like a better option, this way we KNOW the songs played are ones we've chosen!

DawnandJohn- YAY! Hawaii! That was one of my choices too, but I live in AL and a WHOLE day on a plane made me reconsider for myself and my guests, didnt want them to have to spend TWO days of their hard earned vacation time just flying.  But I wish we could have gone....I have to live vicariously through you :)

Pbrozek-Leap year??? That's giving your  FH a REASON to skip your anniversary!!! LOL! Just kidding :)! Contgrats....where are you all tying the knot?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
