February 2012 Brides!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi Feb 2012 Brides!

I'm not sure how I missed this thread all this time, but our date is 02.02.2012 in the Riviera Maya.  Things are coming along and it looks like we will be a group of 32...although there are still a handful of people who may jump on board last-minute.  I planned for no more than 40 when I ordered favors and whatnot, so I hope nothing crazy happens right at the very end.

TLS, I love that bouquet you've picked out.  It's the perfect combination of flowers!  I'm still searching for one perfect inspiration photo (all shades of pink!) to submit to the WP...I have a couple that I can send out I guess and attach comments like "I like the handle treatment on this one" and "I like the flowers used in this one"...which may just have to do in the end.

  • 2 weeks later...

I can't believe our day is only 41 days away! It's so crazy how fast time flies. I feel like I have so much left to do but there isn't really anything besides FI and his groomsmen getting their outfits and finalizing our legal ceremony here. I'm getting nervous!!!

Congrats to everyone else! We're almost there!!!

I see you're in Ontario, are you just doing your legal ceremony at city hall?  That is what we have left to go and I am having trouble figuring it all out!

Yes. We are doing the civil ceremony at the municipal building in our region. We live in Durham/Clarington so we will be doing it in Bowmanville (don't know if you even know Bowmanville!! LOL). I looked around and we're going to get our marriage license some place else because it's cheaper. I've seen it range from $100-$150 so we went with somewhere that is $100. Did the same thing for price scoping and found Bowmanville to be cheapest. We get the ceremony in the council room or whatever it's called, J.O.P. and the certificate for $250.

The civil ceremony doesn't really matter or mean much to us. It's not like we will count that day as our wedding anniversary! We won't even exchange rings!

We actually moved to Peterborough so I know Bowmanville (and surrounding area) well!

We have been looking into hiring an officiant outside of the the city, I have found a few that do the ceremony in their home or chapel for less than what I was finding most of the surrounding municipalities were offering!

I believe our license in ptbo is $150, where did you find that does it for $100, was that in bowmanville? I like the sound of that!!!

Thanks so much for the help, we too dont care much about our civil ceremony it really means nothing at all but we need it done to make it all legal!

The $100 license is in Whitby. Here's the link: http://www.whitby.ca/index.php?page=57#b

I looked up the Peterborough one for you and it's $125. Doubt the $25 difference is worth the drive! http://www.peterborough.ca/Living/City_Services/City_Clerk/Births_Deaths_Marriages_Name_Change.htm

I looked up a bunch of officiants also but the cheapest one was $300 so we'll just get it done at City Hall. Good luck with everything!

THANKS!!!!!  We were looking to do our civil in Toronto or Ottawa (his family is in Ottawa mine TO) but decided it was too much work.  We are going to go with the $125 ptbo licence (thanks for looking it up, I am sure I had seen it at one point but had totally got them all confused) and have found an officiant for $150 we will go with!!!!! Very excited to finally have some of this figured out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
