Below is the description we put on our website only (no mention of any gifts or Wishing Well in the invitations). If our guests wish to gift us something to celebrate our day, we are asking for a contribution towards a Trash the Dress session with Del Sol Photography. The cost of the photography is quite large and any contribution to help offset our cost would be most amazing & appriciated. We opened a Honeyfund account and it was really simple to use. We actually already received our first "honeyfund" gift of $200 and the guest said it was really easy to use. Paypal takes 3% but that is relatively low compared to some of the other site fees, and the funds go directly to your paypal account - you don't have to transfer from Honeyfund.    This is how we worded it and a photo that we added to the description on our The Knot website. It worked great because Del Sol took this photo and it goes with our theme of "Wishing Well"

Our lives have been Divinely lead and truly blessed. We have been graced with the best Family, Friends, and complete home full of Love.

We are living our dream together every day and by having an intimate wedding in Mexico with an exciting Fiesta with our closest family and friends upon our return home to Minnesota.

Your Prayers, Energy and Excitement are what will help make our day and life together solid, centered and complete.

If you would like to wish us well in an additional way we would graciously welcome your contribution towards something that will forever remind us of the start of our life together - Amazing Photos with Del Sol Photography.

I think the honeymoon registry is a great idea! That and we would prefer monetary gifts too... still trying to find some good wording but so far BDW brides have shared a few awesome ones!

My fiance and I registered at two places (same company, two separate stores). We really didn't want too - mostly the reason that the people coming were spending more than enough just to be there. But we just bought our first home, many family and friends are unable to attend the wedding and our families prefer to have a list to go off when it comes to gifts. We've had two showers thrown for us (surpirses!) and people have used the list for housewarming gifts and Christmas gifts.

Like others have said, make sure you have a variety of price points.

Having just returned from the my folks house, where my Macy's registery is registered we got loads of stuff, at various price ranges and largely from people who aren't coming. My shower is in two weeks and will see how much more we get but I think it was best that we registered or the people not coming would have just gone rogue.

I am going to send out the save the dates shortly after we book (early this year, sounds like. spring at latest). Then I am going to send invitations out late fall... so they do not get caught in Christmas shuffle (we are getting married in July). Maybe so it works out to be 6-8 months in advance. Then I am going to send out an information packet about 2 months in advance of actually leaving.

                This is the plan, anyway.

We did a normal registry at a couple of places and just put links on our wedding site. I don't tell anyone about it unless they ask. I looked at the honeymoon registries and I just didn't like the idea of these places getting a cut of what our families and friends give us. To each their own though!

My FI and I are trying to figure this out this very same issue as well. Initially, we weren't interested in having any kind of registry, but guess what? At this point we're getting questions about why we don't want to register anywhere. And as mentioned in previous posts, that leaves out those who can't make the cruise - and they will most likely want to provide a present.

With all of that being said, it looks like we're going to give in and do the registry thing...

We have a honeymoon registry with Royal Caribbean.  While we would love if everyone would just buy from this registry, we realize that many guests-- mostly older ones-- prefer giving a physical gift that they can go out & purchase and give to us at the AHR.  So, we did a small registry at Target yesterday & will complete a small one at either Macy's, BB&B, or Kohl's for some new bedding & bath towels.

Though I know it's considered bad etiquette by some, I will be including the registry info on a separate card in the AHR invites.  I just think it's a complicated, unnecessary dance to expect guests to track me or my mom down to figure out where we're registered... or putting our website in the invite & listing registry info on the website.  First of all, not everyone uses the internet.. second of all, I just feel like it's going around the block to get across the street.  LoL, it just seems unnecessary and inconvenient.
