Need help choosing a site!

Recommended Posts

My sister (with my help!) is planning an April 2012 wedding in the Riviera Maya, and the first step of course is choosing the site.  We are looking for a resort with the following criteria: all inclusive, family friendly (but still classy,) beautiful beach (they want the ceremony and possibly reception to be on the beach) and not too far from airport.  They don't want a smal boutique hotel, but a regular size resort. Any opinions and suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated!  She is trying to weigh the pros and cons of the Dreams resorts, but is open to other resorts as well. Thank you!

Hi there,

Congratulations,  many of the brides I have photographed have been very pleased with the Dreams resorts here in the Mayan Riviera.  They seem to meet all your criteria depending on which one you choose.  As well the forum is filled with lots of reviews etc for most resorts in the area.  There are a lot that fit what your looking for.   As well they just completed a huge over pass project in Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morales that cuts down a lot of driving time in the south end if your concerned about time from the airport.

Warmest wishes,

Lori

Hello,

I am still deciding on a Destination vs. a traditional wedding in Philadelphia.  However if we do a destination we are going to have it in the Riviera Maya.  I have traveled many times to Mexico and other destinations in the Caribbean and I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dreams.  My fiance and I stayed at the Dreams in Cancun and at that point I hated all inclusive resorts because of the quality of food, restrictions on restaurants, and many other reasons.  However after staying there it turned my thoughts around.  My fiance and I are food snobs, for lack of a better term, and the food their was amazing and the staff was great.  I would definitely recommend any of the Dreams resorts or Secrets resorts.  A friend of mine attended a wedding at the Maroma Seacrets and the loved it there as well. If we do a destination wedding I will only consider Dreams or Seacrets.

Also, they have a lot of different activites throughout the night and day to keep your guests entertained.  Every few nights they had a dinner and show on the beach.

Hope this helps a bit.

Jen

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
