Hi Tammy,

Elvis here...Ashley and I are hiring a violin/guitar duo for our ceremony. We're still working out the details but we only plan on hiring them for one hour. We figure the actual ceremony will last no more than 30 minutes and that should give them enough time to play while people are seated. Then we'll have a dj play the cocktail hour and beyond.

For the duo I've been corresponding with Violetta Poletek. The website is Los Cabos Wedding Entertainment - The best live Los Cabos wedding music available in Baja California Sur, Mexico !. She has been completely responsive and very flexible and willing to work with us. You can listen to samples on her site. She sounds very very talented.

I am still trying to work out this whole vendor (day pass or no day pass) policy with Yarai, but hopefully that will get resolved soon. Once we figure that out we're going to book her.

If you have any further questions just PM me.

Cheers,

Elvis

yes, it was traditional music for the ceremony then fun stuff at the cocktail hour...people were dancing etc.

FYI for anyone that cares...

Yarai told me that the speaker system on the beach is super hidden and that you can't see it at all, but that you can definitely hear it for both the beach ceremony and the beach cocktail hour. So I think we decided to go with that. FI is really picky about music and he wants definite input into what songs are playing for both the ceremony and cocktail hour. I just see it as more work for us (more on our playlist!) but whatever! It will be nice to have it a bit more personalized I guess...

But what about before the ceremony, will it just be silent then? I was thinking I should have the trio there like 15 mins before to play for people while they wait....I have no clue!
I hired a mariachi group to play 15 mins before the ceremony and about 30 mins into the cocktail hour. Then DJ Mijares is going to take over and play the guitar.

they are going to implement an outside vendor policy. it is because dreams wants to maintain a certain level of excellence regarding their weddings. it is really hard to do that if they have to work with vendors that they have never worked with or do not have the best reputation. what they are going to do is have a "preferred vendor list". to have your vendor get on that list, they need to contact the dreams wedding dept. and fill out the necessary forms, qualify etc. they will also be told the procedures at the resort, etc.

those vendors that do not want to be on the "preferred vendor list" will have to pay a fee. this is because it does take extra effort and man-power to work with a vendor that is not familiar with the resort.
Tammy, Yesika has not told me about any fee for outside vendors. When is this effective?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
