Esperanza was fantastic! I am going through withdraws from both locations, Dreams and Esperanza. I think we planned that honeymoon perfectly! We had 7 days at Dreams, including our wedding day, and 4 days at Esperanza. The price of Esperanza is about double what you pay at Dreams but you definitely get what you pay for. I highly suggest you at least plan a dinner when you girls get there. The view is like nothing you have every seen and it is a 2 mile cab ride down the street from Dreams. We are already planning our trip next year to inlcude both locations.

I'll be working on my review this week!

YAY! We are already booking rooms and people are now getting excited about coming to Mexico! Of course people have not completely gotten over the price of rooms and air fare, but everyone we want to come is really making an effort to be able to come :)

I am thinking about making my own wedding invitations...Has anyone done this? I have no idea what I want to do, something tropical I guess. I don't like any of the ones I am finding in my price range, so that's why I decided to just do my own. If anyone has any advise please let me know...I am pretty much starting from scratch!

One more question...When you do a dreams wedding package, do you get upgraded to the honeymoon suite for free? What is you book a regular room now, can you still get upgraded for free when you decide on your wedding package? We are expecting about 30-40 people, and are doing the whole reception and everything, so which wedding package should we go with?

Thanks everybody, and happy planning to everyone!

I just got married at Dreams in October 20th and it was PERFECT. I will also work on a review in time. Yessica was great, so if you have heard she is the lesser of the wedding coordinators on this forum....she was wonderful.

On your question about packages. We booked the ultimate package and i would not do it any other way. Everything is just done and you do not have to worry about anything. It is their best package and it comes with everything you could possibly need. The food for the cocktail party was great (I was told...I was taking pic with Juan Carlos) and the dinner that we had was amazing (lobster and filet).

We booked a one bedroom suite and then we were upgraded for free to the honeymoon suite. I doubt very much that they will upgrade from a junior suite up to honeymoon suite but I could be wrong.

I will be getting married at Dreams in May! I am thinking about going with the Ultimate package, also.

Question though, is the "set-up" fee included in the price of the package, or do you have to pay that on top? I know it covers dinner for up to 20 guests, but I have heard so much about set-up fees for ceremony, cocktail reception & reception.

Also, has anyone gone with the Ultimate package, and gotten married on the beach? The package said it covers "Gazebo décor - chairs with white covers, ceremonial table, and carpeted walkway"-- will that apply to the beach, too?

It also includes "Use of the wedding gazebo or beach front arbor" -- does anyone know what the arbor looks like? Is it that green arch in their web pictures?

I am also using Yessica, and she has always replied to my e-mails within a couple days. She has been very kind and pleasant!!! I am soooo looking forward to this amazing resort!!

Hi Melissa,

I was charged only for my guests over the 20 that came included in the package for my reception/cocktail hour. The charge that they gave me was $68 per person which included the cocktail hour and dinner reception for my wedding. Again I had the ultimate package so I am not sure if they do things differently for different packages.

We did have a welcome dinner the night before and for this there was a fee per person. They do these special set ups for people but they charge a minimum fee per person. For example for us they stated they only do these private set ups for groups of 40. We just paid the fee of what it would be to have a private set up for forty people. We paid I think $1,200 or so for this welcome dinner but it was gorgeous. It was a private buffet right on the pinata terrace. They way the set it up and took care of us was amazing. They went all out with the buffet set up, exhibition style cooking right there, waiter service --3 guys for our party of 28 -- huge buffet station, salad station, and dessert station. My guests were VERY impressed as well. We also had a speaker system with microphone so that we could give speeches and play our own music during this event.

It does seem a bit steep and my wedding coordinator here in Milwaukee did not try to get the prices down as they were stated clearly in the literature the hotel gave her and me. I really feel you get whatyou pay for and we certainly got an amazing welcome dinner on Sunday and our reception on Monday was perfect!

I did not get married on the beach so I do not want to comment on your other questions. I do know you get the white covers on chairs for free and the ties are $2 each.

Hope this helps

Nancy

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
