Thanks... we have changed the colors and the date. But the jumping broom hales back from centuries ago! Slaves weren't allowed to legally be married so they would have a ceremony and jump over a broom as a symbol of their life long commitment to each other. A lot of African Americans carry on this tradition today as a part of their ceremony and some are lucky enough to have the exact same broom their slave ancestors used when they got married hundreds of years ago!

Hi Felicia!

Great pictures! I was going to get married at the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach 11/10/12, but changed my location to the RIU Montego Bay because they don't have a minimum night requirement. Congrats on your wedding!! Our wedding date is 11.17.12 and I feel like I hardly have anything ready!! :(  I am still trying to figure out our wedding colors. I was thinking of doing sage green, because I love the color green, but now am thinking I should have a brighter color, because we are getting married in Jamaica...what do you think?

We are not having a wedding party, decided that we didn't want to make people spend more money than they will be spending to come down to Jamaica. So we are just going to have our 2 nieces and my nephew as our flower girls and ring bearer.

If anyone has suggestions or ideas for colors, please let me know!! Thanks in advance! And congrats again!! :)

I love your ideas so far!! We are doing a similar color scheme... Mine is purple, teal and green. I love your wedding logo... Did you create it yourself? I found our lanterns http://www.jianoupaperlanterns.com... they were .40 cents each. But the shipping was a killer. I can't wait to see the end results... Please post your pictures. smile123.gif

I have officially purchased the first items that will go towards our wedding. Just so you know, Brett and I have gone back and forth over our wedding colors... I mean it was rediculus how many times we (I) changed our (my) mind! And just when we decided on some nice fall colors for a fall wedding in the south. We decided to have the wedding in Jamaica and had to change the colors another 3 or 4 times!
So this may be the reason why I am soooo excited about purchasing our decorations...now we can't change the colors anymore! Lol
So here it is... 20 Purple & 20 Turquoise Chinese Japanese paper lanterns!!
They are 12" in diameter & cost 1.20 each. The 10" ones were 1.09 but I wanted them to be a little larger.
I got them from www.justartifacts.com

The total was & $48 & the shipping was $17.98. Even with the shipping these lanterns ended up being the cheapest I could find and in my colors.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
