Hi Ladies [and Gents?!],

My name is Lindsey!  Fiance and I are going to Riviera Maya in 30 days to have a relaxing and well deserved vacation and hopefully pick out a location for our wedding next summer!!!

Has anyone gotten married in the Mayan Riviera in the summer time?  I'm nervous about humidity for outdoor receptions and rain!!

We're looking at:

Dreams Riviera Cancun - top pick!!

Ocean Coral & Turquesa - Where we're staying

Gran Caribe Cancun - Has a GORGEOUSSS Catholic Chapel, where we wouldn't do a Catholic service at the other places.

Have any of you gotten married at or been to one of these places?

Any and all advice is welcome!  I am so happy!

Hi Lindsey.

I think your post is one of the most exciting posts I've read yet!   I'll explain in a minute but first let me say, CONGRATULATIONS!  Woo Hoo! I'm so happy for you.

I wanted to let you know that I stayed at the Ocean Maya in 2006 and that trip changed the life of my BFF and I.  We loved it there so much, we quit our jobs the day we got back to move there...lol. My plan was to go back to school to become a Massage Therapist but while I was in school, I met my now FI and moved to his town instead :)  My BFF moved there and lived on the Ocean Maya resort when she moved there 5 years ago.  She now has built a house and opened her own business :)  P.S. She's never coming back to Canada...hahaha.

Have you been to the Mayan before now?  It's amazing!!  The last time I went was in 2008 to visit BFF; in August.  The average temp while I was there was 110 degrees (with humidity).  Personally, I love that heat so for me it was a dream.  Not so much so for wedding guests I would imagine.  It doesn't tend to rain that much during our summer months.  Rainy months are from August to October/beginning of November.  It's also hurricane season during that time but they don't see much of those.  There was a hurricane watch when I was there (which of course made me nervous) but it changed course long before it hit shore.  It is quit humid during those times, but can also be cool at night.  If you pick your date between June and beginning of August, I'm sure you'll not only love it, but your guests will appreciate the decrease in humid temps.

I'm sure whatever you choose will be amazing.  Can't wait to hear about your upcoming trip!  Oh and if any of your guests are nervous about the safety of Mexico, there a great map post on the forum about how safe it is in that area.

Welcome to the forum!  Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.   Most resorts have a lot of shaded areas to keep cooler when the sun is at it's strongest.   In my experience the time of the wedding makes all the difference for comfort.   The later the better.   A wedding representative from the resort should be able to work with you to plan the best hour and location of the ceremony.  In the Maya Riviera, rain is not common during that time of year and if it does happen it is usually short lived.

Warmest wishes,

Lori

Congrats Lindsey and welcome to the helpful (and oh-so-addicting) world of BDW!! You will LOVE the Riviera Maya! We are having ours at Aventura Cove Palace, but during our site visit in March we looked at several others in the area - though I didn't get to see any of the ones you listed, I'm sure you'll find the perfect one. As the bride above me mentioned, utilize this site for reviews (up in Vendor Reviews) or just through the search option and don't be afraid to ask PLENTY of questions during your visit to the resorts. Best of luck with planning!

Congrats LindseyM!!

2012 is where its at!!! You came to the right place! Everyone on here is so helpful! I know I had a hard time getting started and picking our location. There are so many resorts its mind boggling! Make sure you check out the Del Sol Wiki: http:// http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya .

There are so many slide shows of weddings in different areas on there! That might help you make your decision a little easier. I spent DAYS looking through them all just because I couldn't get enough!

Also you might want to check out the BDW vendor section. There are always some awesome deals for members there. I know my photographer just started an SWEET promo with LeReve! Check it out here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion

Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
