Bridesmaid Dress Drama

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'm not sure if I am being a bridezilla or not but would appreciate feedback! My bridesmaid's got measured for their dress this weekend. In talking to them since, I am now worried! One ordered their dress 5 inches too small in the waist, the other one 3 inches too small in the waist. Both of them plan on losing weight. The bridesmaid that ordered her dress 5 inches smaller in the waist is the type to lose weight when she puts her mind to it (although I think 5 inches is quite a bit!), the other one didn't even lose it for her own wedding! I am starting to stress out! My wedding is in November. Anyways, any thoughts would be appreciated!

well I ordered my wedding dress 3 inches to small in the waist, only because I refused to pay more for the bigger size, the measurements in the bust and hips were actually bigger (my hips and bust being smaller in size then the dress size weird)  Anyways my dress should be in any day and I am freaking out I have lost 1.5 inches but my stress level of worry for not fitting into the dress is killing me. For me 1.5 inches of waist loss was about 15lbs.  So 5 inches is alot. Is this bridesmaid planning on exerising as well. If I had to do it over again I would pay the extra money for the bigger size.  Its a big risk. If they are paying for their own alterations and dress then its them that will have the problem in the end having to alter the dress to their size.   My MOH dress does not fit she gained weight since she was measured. They said they could take it out, another option we have been thinking about is making the back a corrset.  I just told her last night that I had not budgeted for her to gain weight and that she would be resposible for alterations (I bought the dress and we have been friends for over 30 years).

Good Luck!    and by the way you have every right to have bridezilla moment!

Ladies, I'm on the other end of the rope.  I have lost quite a bit of weight (60lbs) and the heck a lot of inches. I ordered by dress in April and because I wasn't sure if I will loose more, we ordered based on current measurements (April's).  The dress came in two weeks ago, it was too big. I was at my mom's house yesterday, and we tried it on just because we felt like it. HOLY COW - my dress looks like an oversize window drape.  There is no win/win in the dress ordering drama.  I think they do something with the dreses (LOL) so the seamstress can make $ too :))))

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
