Ha! I'm a New Yorker too. Brooklyn, NY to be exact. Born and raised! I am in Charlotte, NC now.  It took me a while to get used to NC, but now i appreciate it. Its a great place to raise kids.  I have two young children so it works out great!  Congrats again!

Resorts located around Villa Del Mar:

Grace Bay Club

Grace Bay Club Estates

Seven Stars

Ocean Club West

Comfort Suites

(GBC And Estates are a pricier option, with Seven Stars and Ocean Club West being more mid to mid/high range, Comfort Suites is across the main roads and is a budget option/further hike very basic rooms)

You can give them the list and then check turksandcaicosreservations.tc , they have all of the hotels listed and any deals going on in one place.  They are located on island and are great at what they do

Wow - that's close to home.  I grew up in New Rochelle (Westchester County).  When I was in HS we moved up to Dutchess County (near Poughkeepsie) and that's where I stayed until I moved down here.

I have a daughter that's 12 years old from a previous marriage.  Needless to say, that's why I moved to NC to start a new and better life and to be closer to my parents.

Hi Krys,

I hope all is well. My sister is trying to travel to see my fiance and I get married. We are staying at Villa Del Mar. Is Grace Bay Suites hotel nearby?  Any info you can lend would be great! Thanks!!

Grace Bay Suites is about a 1/2-3/4 mile max away.  Probably a 15-20 minute casual stroll.  Caribbean Paradise Inn is just around the corner from Villa Del Mar and a bit closer, not as new as Grace Bay Suites but nice and quaint, that might be another option.  Check turksandcaicosreservations.tc for rates etc.

Thanks Tropical Imaging!  For some reason, i didn't realize you replied until today. Thanks as always for your help. Can anyone on this forum reccommend a hairstylist in Turks and Caicos?  Make-up artist as well? Thanks in advance for your help!

I live in NY, as I have all my life, and planning to move to SC and also have a DW in T+C.  Must be a NYer-who-loves-living-down-south thing! :)

You seem to give some great advice and knowledge and I was wondering if you knew how far The Alexandra resort is form the grocery store and the shops downtown. I heard it was too far to walk esp when buying groceries. Can you tell me in reference to the other resorts, how close it is to everything? What is your advice on renting a car while down there? Would you reccomend it?

I wrote a response on the  Alexandria last night in the Turks 2013 post, hope that helps.   I don't think you would need to rent a car the whole time...but renting a car for a day or two for the days you might want to go further out to dinner/shops/groceries is not going to break the bank, most of the car rental places will drop the car off at the hotel.   Renting a car is a LOT cheaper than taxis and while we drive on the left...it's not hard to get the hang of it. We don't have a lot of roads on the island so it's not hard to get lost!  I would look into it for a day or two but really there is a lot nearby the Alexandria...you'll be on the beach! and if you book an excursion, they will pick you up either on the beach or by shuttle, so no worries there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
