How much peacock is too much?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies.

After much debating, I have finally picked our theme and colors.  We are having a peacock themed wedding and our colors are purple and turquoise.  I'm so excited to have found garter belts on Etsy.com and purchased them already.

My question is how much peacock is too much?  I don't know where to put it and how to use it.  I am thinking of having the girls wear purple dresses and my FI wants turquoise shirts for the guys with black pants.  Do you think that would look good?  Since deciding, I have now found a cake topper with peacock feathers and bouts and bouquets.   Anyone have any suggestions on how to use the peacock them without it being tacky.

I think garters, cake topper and bouquets/bouts is not too much at all. Those garters are hot, btw!

Also, I think the colors you mentioned will look great together, especially with bouts/bouquets to tie them together. I had a friend that had three bridesmaids - one each in purple, turquoise and green and it looked great! The GMs all wore all black with coordinating ties (puple, blue and green).

I love peacock, so maybe I'm a bit biased in favor of it! :-)

Thanks Acireta!  I love the idea of the girls wearing different colors.  My FI doesn't want the guys to wear suits for the heat factor so I'm trying to decide how to work that in.  I'm also thinking of the girls carrying a parasol but can't think how to tie that into the theme.  Hmmm, so many choices...hahaha.

It would be cool to play up the iridescence of the feather, too. maybe you could find a metallic/pearlized spray paint and use that over the original color on the parasols? or find decorations to add to the flowers that bring in the purples and blues (michaels and hobby lobby come to mind). it's definitely a cool idea. :)

Very pretty.  Now that I've picked this theme, there are so many options.  I like this cake topper but don't know if it's too much.  For me it's not...hahhaha.

LOVE it!! I want it LOL FI didn't want to do the peacock thing or I totally would have! He wanted more minimalist, which was fine with me too (white, black and turquoise, with palm trees as a sort of theme)

Your wedding is once-in-a-lifetime, pick the things that you really really love so have no regrets, and you'll always look back at the beautiful pictures and love everything about it :-)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
