Horrible Communication

Ok, so Iâ€ve been trying to keep my cool, but Iâ€m getting SUPER frustrated with our Moon Palace wedding coordinator. It has now been THREE WEEKS since I contacted her, and despite follow up emails, phone calls placed by my TA, follow-ups through their own employees to her, I have still heard NOTHING.  We are under a month from the big day.

I canâ€t book our group excursions, and Iâ€ve heard that they all fill up super fast. I canâ€t buy linens as no one will tell me their table sizes, and they chard FOUR TIMES the purchase price to rent them!!

I canâ€t find the contact number for their onsite Kodak department who do the videography to get information and decide if I want to use them or an outside vendor or nothing at all.

I keep hearing how theyâ€re totally awesome while youâ€re there, but at this point, I am not pacified by this news AT ALL.

I really really really donâ€t understand why they even bother telling you that their wedding coordinators will contact you 3 months prior to your wedding when they are totally unresponsive anyway. It would be so much nicer if they just told you that everything would be taken care of when youâ€re there and never bothered contacting you in the first place.

I am generally a super mellow person, but it's no wonder I was in urgent care on Wednesday due to mind-numbingly painful heartburn. I donâ€t know how Iâ€m ever going to be able to be nice to our wedding  coordinator when we meet her face to face. Furthermore, now Iâ€m worried that my attempts to chase her down will piss her off and lead to her being as useless on site as she is via email.

AAAAAARRRRRGHHHHH!

Ok. Now I feel better. Thanks for listening. J

Awwww.  It will be o.k. The hard thing to remember is they often have other weddings that they are coordinating.  I know you don't want to hear that but trust me, they will contact you.  I'm sure it is frustrating but try to be patient.  Give her a deadline to call, then if she doesn't, contact the manager/owner of the resort.  I'm sure the last thing they want is unhappy guests.

It will be o.k.  Try to relax.....This is the most important day in your life I'm sure so you want it to be right.

Breathe.....

Aholen, I am on the same boat as you and my wedding is exactly 2 weeks from today and I leave in 10 days. I also have Kalena. So if you have any specific questions I can help you with, let me know. I haven't heard from Kalena too since mid April but for some reason I am pretty calm. I feel like by the time I get there she will have everything handled and I'll be fine. Wishful thinking right?

I have been working with Kodak and the new contact person for them is Lupita and she's been so great and really responsive.

For the group tours, you cannot book that ahead of time. They told me that you have to wait to arrive and then go straight to the tours counter to book bc otherwise it would not be fair to book ahead since we are using the promotion dollars. The only thing you can book ahead is your hair/makeup for your bridal party with the vacation dollars.

As for the tables. the round are 72 inches. I am not sure about the rectangle sice I didn't opt for any but if you are working with Deco, I am sure they can help you with that.

Hope you're feeling better. When I come back, I'll give you full details!

"It's okay, deep breath, it will all work out, deep breath, they know what they are doing." That was how I made it through the MP planning. I think the only reason they contact you 3 months in advance is to ensure they can fill out the paperwork properly. Just try to confirm where you want to hold your ceremony and any reserved or private events.

You will be there in June, which is not very busy so don't worry too much about booking tours. You can't do any of that in advance unless you are paying out of your own pocket. Do send an email to the salon requesting all your appointments. Those are a little more difficult to book.

Here is Lupita's email for smile market: wedding2@palaceresortsweddingphotos.com

We got the wedding video, so I can send you the youtube link if you want to watch it. It's very basic, but all we wanted since we had our own photographers from home. You may want to find out how much it is to add any special speeches or dances.

If you want any other answers or support, send me a PM.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
