Getting Married at Moon Palace SUGGESTIONS????

We are in the beginning stages of booking our wedding at the moon palace resort for August 23rd. So far I have the date and time reserved. I am soooo confused because the staff is Miami is extremely difficult to reach. Everyday I have new questions that arise. I am torn because we are given the $1500 credit. I booked the complementary package but I am not sure if I should have put this towards one of the other packages. We decided to do the destination wedding because we thought that it would be cheaper but I am now seeing that there are lots of hidden fees. How much do you think it would cost to have a decent pretty wedding with a decent reception after? They are asking for a number of rooms to reserve but I am not sure what to say because I have not yet sent out invitations. If someone has done this and I was trying to keep costs low please share your experience! Just wondering everyones thoughts and experiences. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum and congrats to you for nailing down a day.  I can't really tell you about hidden fees but I can tell you a little about the resort.  We shot a small wedding (alright a bride and groom and two boys) there last month.  It is a beautiful resort and the bride gets delivered in a white horse drawn carriage which is always breathtaking.  It is a quiet and romantic venue that lent itself well to an amazing day.  Feel free to contact us for photos of what will be awaiting you there.

Good luck with your planning.  Things can be tough at times with the resorts but it is all worth it once you are standing there on the beach saying your vows with the waves crashing in the background.

Welcome!  Try searching for the thread on that specific resort and hopefully some brides who were married there can help you out with answering your questions!  Good luck and happy planning:)

Welcome!

First off, don't worry! We have all been there at some point. The Miami office can be difficult to work with, but from what other brides have said, they really pull through and make it all beautiful on your big day. I find calling them seems to be the best method if you want a fast response.

As far as expenses...well that is entirely up to you. You can make it as affordable or as expensive as you want. I personally wouldn't use the resort credit towards a package. They are all so affordable that you could probably do that on your own...especially when they have you do it in installments. Save your credit for either the fun stuff or the extras you want. They seem to have changed what exactly you can use your credit for when it comes to wedding stuff though.

If I were you, I would get a travel agent that can deal with all the resort stuff and booking. We found ours through this website. She has been so great and makes sure to get us the best deals. We just opened up a room block. We just figured we would start on the low end (10 rooms) since we don't know for sure how many people there will be. That way you can always ad more but not have to pay for rooms you might not need.

Welcome to the forum!  I have photographed a few weddings at that resort and the brides have been pleased.  I would ask for all the fees up front before you make your decision.   Maybe speak with a wedding coordinator at that resort and express your concerns.

Good luck!!

Lori

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
