Hi everyone. I am getting married April 6, 2013. I have been working with Nina who has been incredible. We have 25 guests and are doing the tropical wedding. I have added all the extras, violinist, steel drums for cocktail hour, three hour reception with dj, flowers and lights everywhere. We have opted not to do the included rehearsal dinner because everyone has to eat the same food (just like the reception dinner). We are paying extra for open bar, hair and makeup for me and the girls, videographer, photographer, guest bag delivery. Fingers crossed that everything will go well. I spent 3 months planning a wedding at Sancutuary Cap Cana without any attention from the coordinator so we cancelled and moved it to Sandals. I can say that it has been a 1000% improvement. I just checked the thread for that resort and found that one poor bride was just told her wedding was cancelled 3 months before due to overbooking!!! I will try to remember to come back and post our results. Good luck to everyone. Let me know if you have any specific questions. [email protected]

Hi, I am also planning a wedding at Sandals Negril, and just got assigned Nina as my WC.  I haven't had my meeting yet, and I am still up in the air about what is worth spending the money on and what is worth saving a few dollars on.  Did you have a sit down reception dinner? and if so was it worth the money?  I'm having a hard time with this since it is already an all inclusive resort, i'm not sure why it cost $60/person. Also did you use the photographer there? how did the pictures turn out?  What about makeup and hair? I'm not very good at doing my own hair and makeup, but have also had some bad experiences?  thanks for any input....

I am doing the 2 hr sit down dinner for $45 pp. Luckily my future sister in law is a photographer so I don't have to worry about that. The photography is pretty steep. I'm also taking a lot of my own decor being made by a good friend. I did splurge a little on Bridal Bliss which includes a trial hair and makeup. Depending on when your wedding is I can definitely let you know!

Hi!

I also wanted to suggest that you ask Nina about the buffet style dinners instead.  The sit down dinner limits you to choosing ONE (two if you are lucky) meal, two appetizers and one (or two?) desserts for everyone to have (so if someone doesn't eat beef and you choose that option, looks like that person won't be eating meat at your wedding).  The buffet style dinner gives you more bang for your buck.  I had the $45 buffet style dinner and my guests (and my groom and I) loved it all!  They had fish, a carving station of beef tenderloin (if I remember correctly) salads, fruits, all types of sides and all types of desserts in addition to wedding cake!

I wish I could go back and eat that food again!

The ladies in the spa did wonders on my, my mother's and bridesmaids makeup.  My hair came out beautiful and my mani/pedi was nice! (I sprung for a gel manicure!)  I think it would be worth pampering yourself for sure!

MrsPWilson...be sure you know about the set up fees for bringing your own decor.  I didn't bring my own decorations b/c I wasn't planning on having enough to justify the apx $150 set up fee (I was told that they wouldn't allow anyone but staff set anything up).

I also used their photographer and I love my photos.  They are not going to be those super artsy photos that some photographers can capture, but they are beautiful nonetheless.  Fabian has a sort of an artistic eye and did great things like silhouette shots, shots where he focused in on us and sort of blurred the scenery, in a nice way and black and white shots.

Thanks! So there was a $45 buffet option? I thought it was $75!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
