@jamaicabride11  Congratulations!  I'm looking at the same number of people. I have a few questions:

Did all your people fit well on the beach?

Was the Arch rustic?

What is Trash the Dress?

Did you do a private rehearsal dinner and a dinner reception after the wedding?  If yes, was that too many planned dinners for guests at an all inclusive?

Are there any great group activities you did?

What fun items did you put in the guests bags?

Thank you!

Jmaz I did the 2 hour cocktail hour. I think it was an extra 10 or 15. Per person and I had a dj. It was great for a large group. The food for cocktail hour was just finger foods ( and not enough to fill anyone up!) so my guest  just went to the buffet and brought back plates. I got married on a Friday and tgat eas buffett not. It might be an option. Sounds ghetto but it worked out fine.. Wasn't the plan but hey I just went with the flow. I agree 60 per person is ridiculous after all the other things a destination wedding entails.

JMaz did you want the beach location or the gazebo with a beach view?  The gazebo is not large enough for that size group, but the actual beach wedding location is.  And it's beautiful!

I'm getting married at Sandals in March, and my FI and I had planned on doing the ceremony at the beach view gazebo, but we were just informed that probably won't work as we have too many people coming (33 guests). We both feel that part of the point of a destination wedding is getting married on the beach, but are worried that it won't be private enough, as people may be sunbathing or walking through if its on the beach. We also didn't want to pay for an arch as they are a bit pricey, but I feel like it may be too plan otherwise if its on the beach.

Besides that, we are doing the three hour reception as we wanted to be able to just party with our guests afterwards privately.  We actualy met at a destination wedding at Sandals Royal Carribean, and having been a guest at one, I did not think that the rehearsal/welcome dinner plus the reception sit down dinner was too much.  Its nice for the group to be able to all be together for some things, otherwise it was my experience that people were doing their own things for the majority of the time.

The beach location is directly next to the beach view gazebo, so you'd have the same sunbathers and onlookers.  The wedding that I photographed there didn't have an arch or anything and it was somewhat plain.  The bridesmaid's bright dresses definitely helped make it awesome, but it was still beautiful.

I definitely plan to wed on the beach - simple, no arch or anything. The video was beautiful, just how I would want it. So I'm thinking of doing a 2 hour cocktail/hors devoures party, let people go eat where they choose (though I'll let them know what restaurant we're going to) and then later meet at the piano bar.  Although, watching the video with dancing on the beach looked like a lot of fun.

Would you recommend paying so much extra at an all inclusive for the private beach dinner and DJ?  I'm really stuck.

We have super fun family and friends.

Many say we should just take over a restaurant early and then continue to the piano bar... I'm stuck.

I'll definitely do the rehearsal dinner and let people decide if they want to come... though most will. Thanks for the input!

Ugh! I'm in my 40's and now I know why I've never married - too many decisions. :)

I will say, the private reception was AMAZING!  It was the BEST food I have ever had at a wedding... and I'm a wedding photographer, so obviously I eat a lot of wedding food.  And having the private dance party was really awesome and the guests loved it.  Something about dancing under the stars is SO magical!  Especially if you have a fun group.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
