SIMPLE WEDDING FOR TWO IN TURKS & CAICOS

Hello,

First - congratulations to everyone on their upcoming nuptials or newlywed status!  My fiance and I want to vacation in Turks and Caicos and get married while we are there.  No reception, No cake, no extras.  A few family members and friends may travel for vacation and want to witness this, but that's it. Does anyone know if this is possible?  I just need an Officiant to meet us on the beach so we can exchange vows,  say I do, and go about our vacation business. LOL!  Please help! I feel so confused and lost.  I don't want to spend thousands of extra dollars for a wedding once I'm there.  I just want to say "I do" and that's it. We will make after wedding plans on our own.  I am looking at the Veranda, and Somerset at the moment.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

Hi!

Congrats to you too!  I feel the same way... It's just my fiance and I, no friends, no family, no frills.  We're tying the knot at Beaches.  The basic ceremony is free with a premium room.  The Veranda and Somerset offer wedding packages, but they're pricey.  There are wedding coordinators on the island (Island Harmony) that also arrange ceremonies.

We chose Beaches mainly for the reason that it would be an amazing vacation with a little "I do" stuck in the middle.. lol.  We have no extra fees associated, which is perfect for us.  We did choose Tropical Imaging for photos, and that is an added expense, but worth every penny.   Their work is extraordinary!

Good luck!

Hi Barefootidos,

Its so happy to find someone else who's doing the same thing.  I love how you put it - "an amazing vacation with a little "i do" stuck in the middle".  Ha!  I feel the exact same way.  I am going to research the Beaches free wedding.  I love the Somerset. I emailed them to ask if i could do something a lot cheaper than what they offer, but haven't heard back.  I really want a free wedding. Most resorts usually offer this, but apparently Somerset does not (at least not judging from their website).  I was also looking at the Veranda.  I emailed them, but haven't heard back from them either.    Thanks for telling me about Island Harmony as well. I am going to look them up.

One question:  How far in advance do you have to arrive in Turks before they'll marry you??

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my thread and i look forward to hearing back!

Best Regards!

Hi, I so agree, I love the somerset resort... It's so beautiful, but it just didn't meet our needs. I so hope they can accommodate you at a lesser price. Legal requirements are to be on the island for 48 hours before you can marry. Day of arrival and weekends don't count. For example, we arrive on tues, so we will get married on Friday. If you arrive on Thursday, you can't marry until tuesday. So chose your day of arrival carefully... Can't wait to hear which resort you choose!

Thank you for the information on when to arrive. I was planning to arrive on a Thursday so thanks for that.  Did you find it hard to locate an officiant to handle your wedding on the beach?  I'm just asking b/c you ultimately went with a wedding package (allbeit simple).  I emailed Island Harmony to ask about this, but they haven't replied yet.

Thanks a lot!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
