Message in a Bottle Save the Date Invitations! Pictures, Instructions and Prices!!

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to update ---- some have already recieved our invites!! My FI has recieved 3 texts so far; here's what they said:

1) "OMG!!! Just got your wedding invitation in the mail!!! Holy $@#! that's adorable!!! Nice work u two!!! I love it!!!

2) "Got the invite today. That's probably the coolest invite we've ever got. Good job. We are not gonna be able to make it though. Thank you very much for the invite and thinking about us."

3) "Holy $#!%! Such a cool wedding invitation!! How did you make it smell like hte beach!?"

So there we are!! SUCCESS --- at least from an excitement factor, which is what we were going for! Now, hopefully, they will check out the website and get even more excited and book. :) I mean, it must be good if we got 2 "Holy $#!%"'s, right?!? Hahaha. :)

Plus, I'm psyched that someone thinks they smell like the beach! I scented the corks like WAY to early (like 5 weeks early, haha), so that's awesome!

A HUGE thank you to MrsWeiss for taking the time and energy to start this thread with your INCREDIBLE idea!!!  I couldn't have done this at all without you.  woot.gif

Here's to praying for a lot of bookings!!!  :)

Mrs Weiss,

Thank you SO much for posting all of this!  I LOVE this idea!! We had already sent out out STDs and invites, so we decided that we would send them out as our "Thank You" after the wedding!

Needless to say, I've started working on them already so they'll be ready to go once we get home!  I too am disappointed with the boxes, they don't fold anywhere near as nicely as one would guess!  Somehow yours came out so well!  I'm going to have to keep working on my folding skills!

Just a question, how did you close the boxes in the end?  I didn't see that detail in your instructions?  If I glue them down, then I'm sure people will just tear the box apart, but I don't want them to come open in the mail either?  How did you secure the flap?

Thanks a bunch and will share a pic once they're done!

Hi BusyBee,

cute idea using them as thank you's!

I glued the boxes together to help them hold tight.  And then I taped the lid down using clear packing tape.  I think I just did the lid, but I'm sure you could do the sides if it made you feel more comfortable.  All our's arrived in perfect condition and like I said, I'm not sure how some of my guests didn't understand how to open the box!

Haha...I'm sure at least one of two of our guys won't be able to figure it out either! lol!

Thanks for the answer!  I was looking at the tape, but holding out in case someone else had an ingenious idea for how to close them!  Considering I never noticed the tape on any of your pics, its pretty unnoticeable!  I think I'll give it a shot!

Thanks again!  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
