Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun Brides

Recommended Posts

I just got back from having my wedding at Fiesta Americana Condesa.  Overall, the resort is top notch in food, service, pool activities, and beach. We seriously felt like a celebrity wherever we went.  The rooms are dated though, we had several friends who had to move rooms because of air and phone not working and another group that did not have their adjoining rooms ready until the second night.

Now to the wedding...my advice is to take care of any payment before you go.  We had issues with not meeting up with the wedding coordinator when we got there. I asked the front desk to call for her and they told me she was not there, and she said she was in the lobby looking for me. Whatever happened, we did not see her.  She came up for payment the afternoon of the wedding and my card was rang for 800$ more than originally quoted in the emails before we went.  Then she asked to see my id and credit card for the 2nd time to scan as we were walking out for family pictures.  When I asked for a bill breakdown all that was added was a 15% service charge. She was never really able to tell me what a "service charge" was, I am assuming gratuity. Which is fine, but I would have just liked to know it ahead of time.  The officiant skipped a reading that one of my nieces was going to do during the ceremony and there were not enough chairs at each table to match up with my seating chart at the reception, and my guest book directions were not sitting by the postcards (no pen by the guest book either).

We are a very laid back couple and did not let it ruin our day, but it more just annoyed me after months of emails and going back and forth that several things were overlooked.

Good Luck :-)

Hi Corina- Thanks for the information on the bill.  I will definitely address that issue early.

I am getting married there this October- where did you guys have your reception?  I am having mine outside in the garden area and I was wondering what you did for decorations?  I want to add something to the area so it feels a little separate from the rest of the resort.

Also, did you choose flowers right from the pdf of flowers the wedding coordinator sent you?  I have some photos of what I would like and want to know how well they actually match what you request.  I am open to any other advice you have too!

Thanks

We had our reception inside because it rained. However, I was planning on having it outside in the garden area. The palm trees have lights on them and I was planning on hanging lanterns with lights in them that draped from the trees. I just chose flowers straight from the PDF, she may be able to do something different though since she uses an outside florist. I brought vases to hang on chairs in the aisle for the ceremony. The wedding coordinator (if you want to call it that) told me they had "nothing" at the resort to put in them. I literally had to use flowers that the housekeepers brought into our honeymoon suite for them. She was not that helpful, but that might have been part my fault I didn't tell her I had them until I got down there. I just never thought it would be that hard to find 6 single flowers in Mexico. Just double check everything when you have the tasting...the centerpieces I picked from the PDF was not what was on the tables.

Another annoying thing was where the officiant stood, in all of my pictures she us standing in front of us with a bright red umbrella instead of behind us. We did not do a rehearsal, so that might have been caught if we had ran through it before.

I put maracas on the chairs and people shook them when they announced us. Those made some cute pics!

I had my wedding at FAC this February 2014. It was a +130 guest wedding. The wedding coordinators (Liz, Silvia) are great. They are really kind and nice people, they hear your opinions, they are quite organized, and follow requests quite well. They made the ballroom look much much better than I envisioned. Given the size of the wedding, we got upgraded to a suite (terrace, jacuzzi, etc.), that was really nice of them. We also got white bracelets and I think they meant ''just married'' because everyone in the hotel will say "Congrats". The only thing I had some trouble with was the "bellmen". First. I had chocolate boxes for the rooms, with a schedule for the weekend printed. They were so slow delivering them. They said someone had to be in the room, but of course nobody is in the room other than sleeping! Liz had to call them and tell them to leave them in the room (as normally is done in weddings with room gifts). Still some of my guest did not get the chocolates/schedule. Also, I waited more than an hour for my luggage to be taken to my new room where I was going to change, it arrived almost when I had to be ready (after 4 calls!!).

About the hotel. The food is really good! Sometimes there is a big line for the restaurants though. The beach is awesome! The service is REALLLLLYYYY GOOOOODD (the best part of the hotel). Seriously, the employees seem always happy, and always asking if they can do something for you. My guests seemed very happy. I recommend for family vacations and weddings as well. The rooms can be a little bit dated, but they are super clean!! :)

I was wondering if anyone had any issues with the hotel not having a club on site? I am traveling with around 20 people and most of us are between the ages of 24-30. We all love to have a good time at night and during the day. We wanted Hard Rock Cancun but the price was a little high for my guest and I didn't want my maids of honor staying at other hotels so they found this one for me. Do yall think that this would still offer a good time? I am not opposed to going into cancun a couple of nights to go out but I don't want my guest to be bored at the resort. Thank you!

Hello, my wedding is 15 months away and I'm still trying to pick a resort! It's overwhelming to try and choose just one! Some resorts allow you to have your dinner and reception right on the beach in the sand. I haven't seen anyone post that FAC has this option available.  Can anyone comment on this, whether or not it is possible? Thanks!

We had our big Indian wedding at the Fiesta Americana Condesa in November 2014. We booked without visiting the resort so I of course was nervous. However, once we arrived, we were instantly relieved. The resort was beautiful and the staff was amazing!

What I was really surprised about was how delicious the food was! Kambu and the Italian restaurants were my favorite! I’m vegetarian and felt I had options everywhere.

As for the wedding, Liz and Sylvia went above and beyond to make us happy!!! Since this was an Indian wedding, we had numerous unusual requests and Liz and Sylvia handled them all fabulously!

I was very involved in the planning and very specific with what I wanted. If you are particular like I am, it is important to do this with any resort in Cancun.

We had our wedding at the Gazeebo, which was beautiful. We covered the Gazeebo with a thick cloth so our guests were protected from the sun.

A few negatives:

On the wedding morning there was a parasailing person set up infront of the gazebo. So although we had a view of the water during the wedding we also had a view of a large parachute with the dominos logo on it. I wish someone had noticed this and moved it. I did not see the gazebo the day of the wedding until I was making my entrance, so therefore it was too late for us.

Secondly, wifi connection was very bad. We had planned on staying connected with our guests through wifi but that became impossible. However, there was some bad weather the first few days we arrived and that may have been the cause.

Check in was difficult for the large groups of guests who arrived together.

Also, the guests rooms were placed in different areas of the hotel. Which didn’t matter too much since we mostly met at the bar lounge or pool.

Otherwise everything was wonderful. I am so happy I chose this resort. The food, the resort, the people, the staff were great. Our guests were incredibly impressed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
