Oh wow... a cathedral? Sounds extreme.  I'm sure it's beautiful, but then it takes away from the idea of a destination wedding!  At least in my opinion....

Do you have a date set Amorae?

Hey ladies

Just wanted to say Hello and to say how happy I am that there is a new DPB forum for 2012 Brides. We are getting married on May 4Th 2012 and I pretty much use this site for every question that ever comes up through my planning. cheesy.gif There is also a DPB facebook group that I found really helpful as well!

I can't believe how quickly time is going, My FI thought I was crazy to start planning since it's a DW but now there's less than a year until our date I'm more excited everyday, and probably a little CRAZY too.

Oh I completely agree. I'm in love with the idea of getting married with palm trees and blue waves as the back drop to the ceremony. There's something so romantic about it. :)

We haven't selected a date yet, probably not until we go down next month and confirm that DPB is the place for us, but we're leaning towards January 5th, 2013. :) When's everyone else's date? We should put together a list like they did in the other forum. I thought that was such a great way to keep track and support each other as the dates get closer. My (tentative) date seems so far away, but it is the 2012 thread after all. ;)

HI letluva5412! congrats to you as well ! Great choice on the wedding date cool.gif We will probably be seeing each other!

We wanted a legal ceremony, and it was pretty important to us, especially my FI to actually get "married" while we are there, but the only time we could comfirm the judge was 130 pm. Now i'm a little worried about what time I should the start the reception and what to do with my guests in the meantime. confused.gif I don't want to start things to early, especially since I heard the reception is only 3hrs max.. ? I'm sure since it's a resort that guests will have plenty to do if there is lag time but it still has me pretty worried!

Yes we should meet up while we are there.  We are having a catholic ceremony and the only time our priest was available was 6pm.  We are having a poolside reception following since it's in the evening already.  Are you having a cocktail hour?  You should have your guests attend your ceremony dressed comfortable and then set your cocktail hour or reception 2-3 hrs later this way you can have your pictures taken.  Just a suggestion.  That's what we were going to do because before we decided to do a catholic ceremony we were going to just get married here in NY and then do a symbolic ceremony there.

My only concern is that since our ceremony is so late that I will have to take pictures before and my FI will get to see me before hand =/  Not sure how we will work that out yet....

I've decided to do the symbolic ceremony with Pastor York -- we're going to be married by our ordained friend literally before we head to the airport, and he is going to file the paperwork with the courthouse at home the day we are to be married in PC. So when I see him walking down the aisle.. we will be legally wed. Hehe. Just a way to make the symbolic "like the real thing"...

DPB Bride 2012 -

We are getting married April 20, 2012 and my finance was also set on legally getting married on the date we would be getting married.  He didn't care that it cost the extra money - it was just extremely important to him so of course, it's important to me too! Because the judge only does morning/afternoon ceremonies we had to get creative.  We are having the judge legally marry us at 1230p (the only time he is available) and doing that privately with two friends as witnesses and then having another symbolic ceremony later in the day (at 430p) so that we could be married in front of all our guests.  Then we will be able to have a 5p cocktail hour and a 630p dinner reception.  This allowed for us to get married legally on the same day yet still met my requirements for having a late afternoon wedding so we could drink and dance into the night.

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
