Getting married this Nov 26th. We are all set with the resort as far as date. A little concerned about where the reception will be. We have about 60 people and I am not crazy about the beach idea. Anyone have their reception by the pool or near the gazebo?

Also, I love the look of those paper lantern hanging, does anyone know what the stipulations are as far as decor??

Hi Veeron, How have you managed to speak to your WC? I have emailed mine a few times and have not heard anything back. Have you called the resort? I am getting married April 2012 and I was hoping to start getting some info nailed down...like...when do I need to pay for the package? When do I need to know how many people are attending?....do you know how I can get all these questions answered?

Thanks

Andrea

We thought about the different packages and after talking to our WC we pick the most basic one and had a lot of add ons, in the end you get everything you want and don't want -- plus the price is slightly lower when picking your own add ons (but you have plenty of time to choose that). Our WC told us they don't make changes on any packages above basic, as far as taking things off or subs. We don't know much about resort photographer, but reading reviews we heard good things. We decided to go with Jamie Dimitry - http://www.jamiedimitry.com/. He is a photographer that frequent travels to DR with 2 other photographers from Canada, because it's a busy season from them around that time, they don't really charge traveling expense. The other photographers are Phil Steingard (who we met in DR 3 months ago) & Michael Steingard - all 3 do really great work. We are also doing a Symbolic Wedding and yes the WC will perform this, it's just easy for us to doing all paper work in the states and just the symbolic ceremony there with friends and family. You'll be fine, just remember one day at a time and before you know it your day will be here and perfect. As far as time on ceremony, it totally up to you guys....most couples shoot for 5pm and go right into reception around 6pm-7pm sun setting time.

Hello girls,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a DJ other than DJ Mannia? I read a few bad reviews on them recently and on top of that they're very pricey, so I'm tryin gto see if I can find someone else that is good.

Cristina.

Hello Ladies

I am getting married in April 2012 at Dreams Palm Beach Punta Cana.

Did anyone get the basic wedding package for free based on the amount of bookings you had and if so could you upgrade to the other packages and just pay the difference? Also, has anyone upgraded the photography packages? How does it work if some photography is already included in your package?

I saw someone say that they got a photographer off of the resort, how did that work and do you have any contact info? Did you have your pictures before you left to go home?

I have definitely had to give up a lot of control for planning it this way but I have no doubt that it will be worth it. I hope the weather is good. We fly Aril 21, 2012 so I expect that we will get married on either the 24th, 25th or 26th. Hopefully the 24th though.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Amy

Ahealey, It also took me awhile to get a response from the WC. I had asked her the exact same question, I asked her when do I need to put a down payment on the wedding package and this was her exact response. When you be here, after the wedding, the day after. This answer confused me and I plan on asking her again but if you get a better answer please share it :) Everyone, I just finally convinced my fiancé to get a DJ for our wedding. Does anyone know how the resorts DJ is and who the resorts DJ is ? Also do I need anything besides the DJ, I think I saw one price with an MC. All I really want is to be able to have the father daughter dance and my first dance as husband and wife. Besides that I am not picky. Thanks in advance:)

Hi ,

I also got a response from the WC..it just took longer than expected. She said my email went into ther junk e mail...hope that stops happening...lol. Her responses in red....

When do we have to pay the full amount for the package? When you be here, one day before the check out.

When do we have to confirm number of guests attending? During your last meeting with your wedding coordinator 3 days before the wending.

When can we confirm the location for the reception? When you be here during your meeting with the wedding coordinator.

I assume that means that we have to pay for the wedding package when you check out..... So that is different from your answer...Either way it is not before we leave...so that is good. And I would like to know where my reception will be before I leave home....Is that normal to not know whreer your reception is until then???

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
