Dreams Palm Beach Brides 2012 - w/pics

Recommended Posts

There's a whole thread on photographers in the DR. To have outside photographers come to DPB you have to pay a day use fee but that's about it. I'm looking at HDC and Photosouvenior right now. Both do really good work! Although one thing I like about the DPB resort photographer is that they don't limit the time they'll do your pictures. I've noticed many require you to buy packages for set amount of hours but I really want pictures of us getting dressed, the ceremony, bridal party pics after, happy hour and maybe a few of the reception.

I was just there checking out the resort for my wedding and I would absolutely recommend the beach.  First, neither location are completely private but the beach seemed more private.  The Gazebo is near the main entrance and the main lobby so there are lots of people walking around.  Also, the gazebo can get very hot.  The beach is nice because there is a great breeze so you will be much cooler there.  Hope that helps!

Hey guys,

I have been doing some research online and still have a few questions! I was hoping some of you DPB brides could help!

If you are planning the free wedding and adding on a "silver" dinner package for your guests and prefer poolside, what additional costs should you expect? (Ie. lights, linens, speakers, chair covers) ... or better asked whats actually included when you pay for dinner!

We are not worried about privacy so is it better to save the money on the outdoor dance floor, DJ, and just have everyone head to the disco? It looks fairly clean?

I thought I read that the cake for 10ppl is actually more than enough for 20 guests, especially if adding snacks and drinks? thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Hi - I have read a few places that the resort closes access to the walkway and gazebo area during the wedding ceremony so there are no people walking around during the ceremony.

Of course it is the bride's (and groom's...lol) choice. But we have chosen the garden gazebo based on the fact that if there are people hanging about in the background during our ceremony they are clothed (and not in speedo's/bikini's) and that for my pictures my hair won't be blowing around because of the beach breeze.

That is just my thoughts! To each their own...

Hello Everyone,

I have never wrote on a forum before but I have booked my wedding at Dreams Palm Beach for June 14, 2012 and I am starting to get nervous as to what steps I need to take next. I got the confirmation date and time (I picked 3 but now I am wondering if that is too early) I am not sure when I pick the time of the cocktail hour and the reception as well the location for these things. I am pretty sure I want the Dreams of Love Wedding Package ( I think that's the middle package) I could really use some advise :) I was thinking about using the Resorts photographer does anyone know if they are good. Also I am having a symbolic ceremony but I thought the WC performed this, is this wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Never fear, I think we all have a little nervous ;-). We are getting married at DPB on April 14th. We thought about the different packages and after talking to our WC we pick the most basic one and had a lot of add ons, in the end you get everything you want and don't want -- plus the price is slightly lower when picking your own add ons (but you have plenty of time to choose that). Our WC told us they don't make changes on any packages above basic, as far as taking things off or subs. We don't know much about resort photographer, but reading reviews we heard good things. We decided to go with Jamie Dimitry - http://www.jamiedimitry.com/. He is a photographer that frequent travels to DR with 2 other photographers from Canada, because it's a busy season from them around that time, they don't really charge traveling expense. The other photographers are Phil Steingard (who we met in DR 3 months ago) & Michael Steingard - all 3 do really great work. We are also doing a Symbolic Wedding and yes the WC will perform this, it's just easy for us to doing all paper work in the states and just the symbolic ceremony there with friends and family. You'll be fine, just remember one day at a time and before you know it your day will be here and perfect. As far as time on ceremony, it totally up to you guys....most couples shoot for 5pm and go right into reception around 6pm-7pm sun setting time.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
