So mandys where are you planning on having your reception. When I visited the DPB resort I didn't like the ballrooms/halls so I guess my only option would be beach or poolside? if I understand correctly you can't have a private reception is the resturants right?

Originally I wanted my reception poolside - it is a beautiful set up, but I am a little worried about the wind. Some nights were fine and others were not. There will be older guests at my wedding, so I want to make sure they are comfortable so that is why I have chosen the ballroom. The no risk choice I guess. It just makes it easier, plus you don't have to pay extra for the lights which I think are extra which you will need once it gets dark.

Afterwards, off to the disco.

The restaurants will not do a private reception. I think they may accommodate 20-25 guests - but there will be other people eating there. The buffet restaurant may also be able to accommodate a larger party in one of the corners, but again, not completely private, and you can't have your own music, speeches, dancing etc.

Thanks for clearing all that up! Did you see the ballrooms? I was ok with them I thought they could make them look pretty but my mom didn't like them at all! lol Plus you have to pay extra for a dance floor right? Well if it rains we will have to go with the ballrooms! lol

I didnt think the ballroom was that bad. It looks nice once it is set up.

Also has anyone had trouble getting the WC to respond to your emails? I know I haven't booked my wedding yet but I just want to verify prices before I do so. I have sent them 2 emails and received no response back after 2 weeks!!! Who is everyone talking to? Like what is the WC name and the email you are using? Thanks everyone!!!

I find that if you are just looking for general questions/pricing, it will be tough to get in depth responses. There are 2 email addresses... I am sure you have them. One starts with weddings, and the other weddings1...I just gave up on getting exact prices way in the beginning of my planning because I knew it would be tough to get. As long as you have the price list, and package info. you should be able to get a rough idea....I have the newest price details. If you need it let me know...not sure if you already have it or not.

Yes, I am also suddenly having delays in email responses. I am long booked with deposits down and some plans made (confirmed ??). I am on the 4th WC since I booked---and as of my last communication it should be Awilda (sp?). It has been over a month since she or another answered a lengthy email I sent with about 2 dozen questions. So I followed up two weeks ago, and then a week later and now this coming Tues will be another week....my last notes reads something like...."hello, anyone there?"...LOL.  I realize they are getting into busy season, so perhaps they prioritize based obn wedding date?

Mandys- Thanks for the pictures! Love them!

Does anyone have the pricing info for the bonfire? I'm not seeing that in my package.

They charged my card for the deposit last week but still haven't gotten the date confirmed... I need to get my save the dates ordered.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
