How to take my wedding dress on the airplane

People are always willing to bend over backwards for brides!!  I would ask the flight attendants if they have a personal closet or overhead bin.  If not, make it known that you're getting married and I've read that another bride got her own overhead bin because people were willing to help and make room for "the dress"!!!!  Good luck!

Perfectly said.  People will bend over backwards for you.  The flight attendants will find a way to accommodate your gown.  You should purchase a heavy duty garment bag for it just in case.

We flew to Jamaica with Air Transat and I had my dress in the white cloth bag provided by Davids. There were 2 other brides on our flight! There are not closets but what I did was basically take over an overhead bin. Between my husband's carry on and my dress, we took the bin and I just stood guard to make sure no one tried to add anything. My dress was very simple chiffon and I just folded it in half once then hung it when we arrived and it worked out great.

A little tip ladies as well. Take your dress out of the bag a full day or 2 before your wedding and hang it in the bathroom, then turn on the shower. It works like a charm for letting out any small creases!

Good luck to everyone!

I'm considering splurging for 1st class tickets to avoid having to stuff my dress into an overhead bin =/

Every time I've flown Boston to Cancun, the flight has been full. I've seen fights over overhead storage space and I've even seen passengers being forced to check their carry-on, even if it's within the size limits. That is NOT how I want to start my wedding trip.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
