Oh and I also Love Oriental Trading! i bought some turqoise blue glass seashell tealight holders, a ton of seashells and starfish, for the tables etc.. They will look so nice!! and being that I am in Canada, oriental trading has fairly decent shipping prices which is nice!

Hey Ladies!

I am also a IRHB bride to be, our date is February 8, 2012! All of your ideas are fantastic, thank you for sharing! My colours are also blue, turquoise & white, so i will definately be hitting up oriental trading/dollarama to pick up some of these decor items!

Has anyone been trying to correspond with the wedding planners @ the resort lately? I was just in the confirmation stages of my date (sent signed contract in) and am having difficulty getting a response this week.... I hope its all still a go!

I am also having trouble finding some pricing for group rates, the best rate I've gotten so far is $1900 taxes in from Toronto...but now that you've mentioned itravel2000 I am going to call them as well....we have 50 people who have RSVP'd so far so I'd like to get this travel stuff figured out soon!

SO Excited!!! The fun begins...!

Laurent,

I went through our TA and she booked us with Air Canada Vacations. She checked Transat, Westjet, sunwing etc...but it turned out the cheapest. The price was 1887 for a gardenview room. If you paid in full by the march deadline, there was a $200 early booking bonus, so technically most of our guests paid 1687. That was by far the cheapest rates we could get locked in from Toronto. The first place  I went to was Flight Center in the mall....they were pretty helpful too and they gave me all of the travel books to look at!

Hi Laurent, I was also having issues contacting the wedding coordinator. I sent in my signed contract and then heard nothing. I had sent in two emails looking for a response and still nothing. So i finally called the resort and asked to speak with Tameica.. Turns out she is no longer working there! So i got her Managers Name and i called several times until i spoke with her. ( i didnt mean to be bridezilla, however i needed to make sure they got my contract and everything was solidified as i have already gotten my invites ordered etc.. ) lol

Anyway I spoke with her just last night and everything was good to go and she answered my questions and concerns over the phone. She did tell me that she is the lead for that department right now and they are looking to have a wedding coordinator hired hopefully soon.. but for now she is dealing with it. Her name is Elizabeth Miranda.. she has the same email address and you can also phone the resort and ask to speak to her..

As for the Travelling portion.. I am in Calgary so the prices are different, however i went through AMA Travel and we ended up booking through Air Canada... they were by far the cheapest for group rates.. and also the bride and groom get automatically upgraded to executive class for free!! ( huge perk for us as the extra baggage allowance alone was worth it!!)  We looked at Sunquest, Itravel200, Westjet vacations, and Air Canada.. Plus when you went with Sunquest, they stated that the flights were not guaranteed and that schedules could change, however air Canada already has the flight schedule and stated that it will not change.

Hope this helps!!

luvmoo,

When did they tell you that they were upgrading the bride and groom to business class? I wonder if they will do that for us too...we booked 48 people on our flight alone! Although, I think I might want to sit with all of our family friends....

Thanks for all the help ladies, I called the resort and spoke to Elizabeth and its officially our date :)

As for travel, i've gotten two group rates back from two different travel agents that seem pretty reasonable $1530-1630 the more expensive having a few extra perks... waiting to hear back from Air Canada as I've heard such good things from you all :)

Hopefully I'll run into some of you who will be there the same week as me! Merge parties perhaps?!

It also took some time for Elizabeth to get back to me when I sent in my papers. But she finally did. I am still waiting to hear back from her regarding a different matter.  I am planning on getting married here in Canada and than do the renewal of vows ceremony. For me I just thought this would make matters of paperwork easier to deal with. Does anyone have any info regarding this (marriage license, record of solemnization).

My travel agent got us a deal for $1549 taxes in through Air Canada as well. I am traveling Jan.28-Feb.4 2012. I thought this was pretty good. I believe she is based out of Toronto but I have dealt with her by phone and email. She has been amazing with accommodating all my requests. If anyone would like her info send me a private message.

:)

Marlena,

We originally found that in  the brochure for the air Canada Vacations, and I just inquired with our Travel agent and she confirmed that we do get the free upgrade! I thought about how i would want to sit with all of our guests too, however alot of our guests have also upgraded, as it is only 300.00 to upgrade.. and considering you get  3 bags and you are allowed up to 70lbs per bag .. in executive class, and with regular class you get ONE bag of up to 50 lbs, and you have the option of paying 30.00 for one more bag... To me that alone is worth the upgrade being that i have to carry my luuggage, my dress and all of the decorations! so it is so worth it! i would definatly inquire!!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
