I went there for a wedding! IT WAS FABULOUS!  Im engaged and would pick there in a heart beat.  The complimentary package was so detailed!  There were around 50 guests in our group and I couldnt believe how nice they made it!  If my brother wouldnt of been married there we would of picked there for our destination wedding.  But now its back to the drawing board.  Nothing I have seen even comes close to their wedding at the Marival!

I am also looking into this resort.  I tried Dreams in PV both Dreams did not have the dates I wanted.  I started searching and saw good reviews for this resort.  I don't see much in regards to wedding reviews, but I liked their packages.  I talked with Jazmin at the resort and they have my date so I am working on booking it now.

Girls,

If you have ANY questions about the resort or the wedding please let me know.  My sister in law was married there in August of 2009 and it was a wonderful event.  I am planning my wedding in Mexico for this August and am jealous we will not be able to go back to the same resort (we just don't want everyone to have to go back to the same resort 2 times in a row).  So, we chose to be married at another place and the wedding packages are not NEAR as inclusive as what the Marival was.  Most other resorts put a cap on how many people you can have for your dinner, toast, and cake.  Marival did not.

The only thing I can say was slightly disappointing was the ceremony.  It was done by a Spanish speaking judge and one of the wedding coordinators translated.  But, it was just kindof strange because she was translating while the judge was still talking.  I know you have to be married by a judge legally but I would suggest maybe having the ceremony done by an enlglish speaking minister if you want an intimate/personal ceremony and not just a judge talking about the legality of it.

Her pictures were awesome also!  The photographer did alot of them on the resort and several on the beach.

The dinner seemed like a full blown reception dinner with a head table, decorations, a cake table.  We did it in the Italian restaurant and the food was wonderful.  We were in a semi private are but truthfully we had 50 people and I don't ever remember any other people around.  We all went to the bar after and had a few drinks.  The entire day was wonderful.  It seemed like they paid alot of money for a ceremony/reception and they did not because the resort offers it free if so many people book in the hotel.

If you have kids, I did not see very much for them to do.  When we were there they did not have a full blown kids area with slides and pools and fun stuff for them.  We didn't have any kids so it wasn't that big of a deal.  But since there was no place for the kids to be they were always around the alcohol swim up bar (only one of the swim up bars serves alcohol FYI).  It wasnt that nig of a deal but if you want to get away from kids this is not the resort to do it.

The beach was decent.  It's puerto vallarta so you can't expect the water to be clear or the sand to be white.  But, it was still a gorgeous beach even without the white sand and clear water.

Like I said feel free to msg me or email me if you have any questions.  I know how it is to be booking a resort and not know how the wedding is going to turn out!  Happy planning!

I just returned from Marival Resorts and Suites for my wedding 1/4/13. I hope the Residence and World Spa is different. Although everything worked out in the end, many things went wrong and I would not return to Marival. We had 56 people with us and they had many of our reservations wrong, including my husband and I's. We did not get our correct room until the day after we arrived. The wedding coordinator was very nice but was difficult to get a hold of until a couple of weeks before the wedding. She was not around much during the wedding to help and make sure everything went smoothly. They got our flowers and our cake wrong and forgot the champagne. The resorts photography, Paparazzi, was very rude and continuously bothered us to use them for our wedding. We had an outside photographer so we did not need them. They didn't seem to care and showed up at our wedding! I had to interrupt the ceremony to ask them to leave. The free wedding package was great, we paid extra to have private dance and dinner, which was definitely worth it. Overall we still had fun, our wedding was a blast and our guests enjoyed it but it was not stress free. If you have any questions just let me know.

Have you considered getting married in a private venue? A garden on the beach perhaps? It is fun for guests because they get to leave the resort for a day/night out and explore different food and beach and in some cases a whole different area. It is almost like a tour for them which would cost about 70 dollars a person if they booked it with the tour companies so you are giving the guests a lot for their effort of paying and going to your wedding.

I have had most of my brides stay at Marival, Dreams or Villa del Palmar or the Riu... all of them are all inclusive hotels that are 15 minutes away from our venue. Our venue is called www.martoca.com and you can view our pictures and reviews here on BDW. Anyway, just ideas and thoughts for you. Also we go until 1AM for about the same price as the hotels!

Take care and be happy anywhere you guys choose to marry will be great!

Yikes!  I'm so sad to hear your event didn't run as smoothly as it should!!  I've heard the Residence is quite a big different than the Resort so I'll keep my fingers crossed.  Just out of curiosity, do you remember your wedding coordinator's name?  Hopefully it's not the same one I've been issued.  I've been curious if they were the same since you can have your wedding/reception at either location.  Did you get a chance to look at Paparazzi's photos?  I had been wondering if they were any good?  Did you bring a photographer with you, or someone from PV?  I've really been struggling on who to use.  Did you get a dj for your private dance, or did you use an ipod hookup?  Thanks for any info you may have!!!  And congrats on being a Mrs. now woot.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
