2012 Brides - Roll Call!

Recommended Posts

Very nice! We aren't actually going to the DR, although it may be in consideration for the honeymoon! We met in Puerto Vallarta and are going back there for our wedding. We actually just sent the deposit off on Saturday, so it's officially our date!!

We picked the date because we liked it. Our Actually day we met is July 15 and we didn't want to travel to the DR in the summer...We wanted to wait until it was colder here!  So where are you having your wedding/honeymoon etc? How long are you going to be staying in the DR. We are actually staying from the 6th-21st.

We are in talks with a travel agent, but haven't decided the resort where we are staying yet. It is very exciting that it is now official!!

We are currently going through battles with unhappy family members more than we are planning. Actually, I guess we are just dealing with the unhappy family members because there is no way we are changing our minds about where we are getting married! People so easily forget that this day is about me and my fiancee, not about anyone else. :)

How are your plans coming along? Did you always know you wanted a destination wedding? Are you planning a honeymoon after the wedding?

Amen Branya2012!!! We have been going through the same nightmare with family members... well, his family to be exact. They are currently boycotting us having a destination wedding and refusing to come. They only want to come if we have an at home "traditional"wedding. That's a funny request coming from people with an enormous family and who are refusing to help contribute at all. They have spared no words trying to convince us how selfish WE are being. So ironic. Anyway, good for you for standing up to whomever is giving you trouble!! It IS definitely only about you two and it is your day. It is amazing how quickly people tend to forget that. Just keep standing your ground. Hopefully they will come around, but if not, it will defintely be their loss. Good luck to you and happy planning!!!

PS There are several blogs on here dedicated to this which I have found to be very therapeutic whether you want to vent or just hear other brides stories to make you feel not so alone :)

I totall can relate to both of you, ladies! My mom was the first to show her unhappy feelings. She seems to think she is going to be gunned down!! Hahaha! I kept telling her "I'm not getting married in Tijuana!!!" Soooo ridiculous.

And then the Fiance's family (That is HUGE by the way- the main reason we are having a destination) somehow got it in their heads that we would pay for their trips. Boy how their minds changed when they found out they had to pay their own way! We are paying for everything entirely on our own so it is so stressful. I have to constantly reiterate this to everyone, including "friends"... It will be interesting to see who comes. Invitations go out this month!

I'll all work out in the end!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
