Majestic Colonial Information (New Thread April 12, 2011)

Recommended Posts

The Majestic Colonial thread is so lengthy I could not find the information I was looking for.

I am having a symbolic ceremony. Do I need a wedding certificate or will a valid Canadian wedding license be sufficient?

Also, if you want flowers for your cake do you pay extra or is some of that decoration included?

Thanks everyone!

I brought a copy of the Record of Solemnization, and that was sufficient for the symbolic ceremony.  As for the cake, they charge about $5 per flower for the decoration.  I brought my own cake topper and they charged me $25 for my cake decoration (see below).

Hope this helps!

Oryx, are you from Ontario? I looked up "record of solemnization" and the only information out there pertains to ON. I'm wondering if perhaps it is called something different in the other provinces. I'm from Newfoundland, perhaps there is a different name on it here or something, lol.

Yes, I'm from Ontario.  When you complete your civil ceremony here, they should give you some sort of document saying that you were married.  They call it a Record of Solemnization here -- not sure what they call it in Newfoundland!  But I think they should also give you something?

Hi Hatfiehm,

Every TA I spoke with recommended this resort among their top 3 for DW's. My mother had also travelled to the resort last year, she has been to alot of resorts, and this was one of the few she said she would return to. They do so many weddings that I figured it would take alot of the stress off me for planning and that was exactly what I was looking for.

Everyone at this hotel really goes out of their way to make you feel special.  Just tell them that you are 'la novia' and they will treat you like a princess all week!  Also, the atmosphere was great for a group -- the resort is large enough for people to have some alone time if they wanted to, but not so big that you couldn't find people.  The beach was amazing, and the rooms were large and clean.

The staff really know what they're doing here -- don't worry, you'll be in good hands :)

hatfiehm-

I felt really overwhelmed at first too; and had decided on the Hard Rock Punta Cana, but changed my mind after looking at prices and also finding all the great reviews on here and the facebook group about the Majestic!  I don't get married until next January, but I've also read that some brides chose the resort based solely on the fact that they could book Photophil!  I jumped on the chance to book him also and can't wait!!  I hope that helps!  Good luck!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
